• Wanting to "talk"

lyse3 and anyone else,

I have posted a private message to lyse3. I am in the Memphis area and hoping to "talk" with someone else from this area. If anyone else would like to answer, please feel free.

I have been dx with IC for 1 year and have been reading these boards for about that same amount of time. I am a novice on this computer so I did not feel sure enough of myself to try to figure out how to post until now. I am still a bit nervous.

I began having symptoms and went to a Uro right away. After the original extreme pain that sent me there, I am basically pain free most of the time. I do have what I call slight flares once in a while. I take 50mgs of Amitriptyline once a day at night. I was taking Detrol but could not stand "dessert mouth" any longer so I went off that. Seems I do not have much trouble with frequency or urgency most of the time.

Anyway, I will not bore you any longer and end this with a big THANK YOU to all for the help and inspiration that I have received from each of you.
I am looking forward to "talking".

Welcome to the ICN. I'm happy that it has helped you and any time you want to "talk" please come to the chat room (don't be uneasy about it) we are very relaxed there. We were all new once. There is someone there usually nitely & you can just listen or ask questions. But mostly you will get to talk to others who know what you're going through. Kathi

Thank you for your replies. I am always amazed that we can communicate with these things. Computers are a mystery to me.

The uro I went in to see when I began the IC journey is Dr. Ricky Smith in Cordova. I chose him because he is in my insurance group and, at that time, the closest to where I was living. I really liked his personality because he was blunt with me. I do not respond well to "sugar coating" of the facts. After the dx, he cut me loose and I have not seen him, again. He told me to call if I needed him. I have been seeing my PCP since. She is the one who put me on Elavil. For that, I will be eternally grateful. After reading the posts here from people who did not respond to treatment as quickly as I did, I consider myself fortunate.

As far as using the chat rooms, at this time, I have no earthly idea how they work. Like I said above, it took me a year to suck up the courage to post to the boards. I am sure it is not as complicated as I think it is. Computers scare the heck out of me. I am always convinced that if I do something I am not supposed to do...BOOM!!! The sound heard around the world. ...Sharon

sharon A, i go to ragi wiygul at the ut research center just off of germantown rd. she is a wonderful uro and she is so advanced in all the treatments. i had the urodynamics test there in the office. she also did my cysto not too long ago. she also does botox in the levator muscles for bladder contractions and pfd. i strongly suggest that you go to her. she is the best in memphis. she is also a holistic dr. one thing she wil do is send you to pt. the pt that she recommends is beth and she is located at baptist east womens hospital. she is also wonderful and has helped me the most with my voiding dysfunction. my e-mail is [email protected] if you have some more questions. i also have the gyn name who dr.wiygul recommends.

Sharon A,

I just saw your message today. I am so happy to find someone else in the Memphis area. I was beginning to think there was no-one, at least who used the internet. I'm not sure if you are the one who said they went to Dr. Ricky Smith, but I go to the same group in Cordova, but Dr. Yair Walzer is my doctor there. I just had a hydrodistention for the first time a week ago, and I am feeling a good bit better. I have had i.c. for 7 years, and in the past have responded well to DMSO treatments. I had 3-1/2 years of complete remission after the first DMSO treatment, but the third time around they didn't seem to be working so I tried the hydrodistention. It was not as bad as I had feared. I had read about complications, which apparently are pretty rare, and was thinking they were the norm. Please let me know how you are doing now in your treatment plan, and what you are using, or just e-mail me at [email protected] ("l" is the alphabet letter not the number). How do you send a private message on the message boards? I missed yours.
Thanks,

lyse3

lyse,

I tried to e mail you yesterday using the address you gave me. It bounced back to me undeliverable. It told me that I had exceeded your storage allocation. I will try to split it up and resend. That might have to wait until this weekend when my husband can help me. He is the computer guro in our family...Sharon
