I am so hoping to meet some people in NC (Charlotte area) to share IC experiences with...to encourage and support each other. Please let me know if you're interested. Thanks!
There is a handful of us in WV and there is even a support group that has been newly formed. Go to: http://www.ic-network.com/cgi-bin/ub...;f=57;t=000090 and you'll see some of your fellow West Virginians. I think they are working on the next support group meeting for June or July.
Kim
Diagnosed August 2001
Current IC meds: Elmiron(since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)
Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)
I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.

“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.” ~ Viktor Frankl
“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.” ~ Brian Tracy

Hi, this is my first post here. Not diag. yet but my gyn. and gastro. think I probably have IC. Four flare-ups since Dec.
Gastro referred me to uro at Duke but it turns out they don't treat IC at Duke. Got a referral to a uro in Greensboro but that's pretty far away from me...and I'm wondering about Chapel Hill.
Who treats IC in NC? There's no one listed in the physician registry. I signed up to be notified by email but in the meantime I'm wondering if any of you can suggest someone.
I could write a book about what all I've been through so far. Actually had a nephrologist tell me if I didn't drink so much I wouldn't have to "go" so much. Probably have Sjogren's too...in the process of many diagnoses and none of them are good.
Hope someone can help me out...
NC Stardust...Not sure who your recommendation was for in Greensboro, but my wife has been going to Dr. Robert Evans in G'boro for a few years. (We live in Durham). He is fantastic. I would recommend that you try to see him a few times if at all possible. We didn't have any luck with Duke or UNC either.
SsinNC, that's the doctor I have an appt with. Small world, right?
Thank you for the info. I've heard good things about Dr. Evans and also that I'm lucky to be able to see him.
I live in Hendersonville and was just diagnosed a week ago. Feel free to email me at: [email protected] anytime. also, have you heard about the support group in ash****le that a woman named nancy is trying to start? i'll keep you informed if you'll send me an email.

I live about 10 miles from the charlotte NC border I live in Rock Hill SC. But I really could use someone to talk to as I am going through a great deal right now and I need someone who may be understanding because my husband is definitly NOT. I am having alot of pain with the IC and I am going in for a biopsy cause the lymph nodes on the side of my neck (1 is the size of a grape and several others are swollen I have no infection and for some reason my thyroid level is very low. I have not been able to gain any weight for a year I am down to 93 and all I try to do is eat. I guess I am sorta scard cause the doc said he was concerned after he got my blood tests back ? I know that everything will be fine. But I just dont have anyone to talk to for 1 I dont know anyone here we moved here from Fla. Im sorry I dont mean to wine. But my husband used to be understanding I'm not sure what has happened. We have been together a long time high school sweethearts. 21 years now. My e-mail is [email protected] banghead hi
