  • Uro in North Texas

    Hello, Everyone-
I haven't been on here in several years, due to having IC controlled well with Elmiron. Recently I had to begin taking blood pressure med. and now I am having symptoms again. I was using Dr. Frankel in McKinney but he closed his practice. I have a referral for Dr. Meredith Lightfoot at Baylor/Plano. Does anyone see her or know anything about her? Thanks for any help.

I too was with Dr Frankel, and sorely miss him... thank goodness my condition is well managed. I see Dr Hassell in Richardson, he is more conservative in approach than Dr Frankel, but I have "tested" him on a couple of occasions on his knowledge and up-to-date info, since I am drifting towards menopause, and have my IC go out of balance every couple -three years as the estrogen reduces, and he is very knowledgeable and willing to work with the patient.

Funny enough, Dr. Hassell is who is (was) my uro too. I am trying someone closer to me, as in, less than 5 mi away, so we shall see. But he is a good Dr. for IC I think.
Currently dealing with IC (diagnosed May 2001), Fibromyalgia (January 2000) and ADHD (1998 sometime) and vulvodynia (Jan. 08)

I work in the schools helping students with disabilities. I am a speech language pathologist working as an Assistive Technology Specialist. A very do-able job with IC.

        Medications

        Meds that I take:
        Elmiron 2 x day ; Effexor XR 37.5 ; Ritalin;
Nasonex; Atarax 10 mg (night); Lidocaine 5%; monthly B-12 shots; Pyridium as needed

        Meds I am trying
        Urell

        Supplements that help:

Condroitin Sulfate; Calcium Citrate; Magnesium Glycinate; Olive Leaf Extract; daily probiotic

        Other treatments that help:
Physical Therapy for PFD; Massage for Fibro; Chiropractic for Fibro; IF Unit (like a tens unit) for pain

I was with Dr. Frankel as well and haven't had a need to see a uro until recently. Does anyone know how to get medical records from Dr. Frankel since he has retired?

I'm no longer in McKinney. I now live in Argyle. I'm glad Dr. Mitchell is working out for you. He was the one I originally went to over 10 years ago, but he did not know much about IC at that time. So, I started using Dr. Frankel in McKinney. He has now retired, so I am using Dr. Muriel Boreham out of Plano. She's with the Texas Urogynecology Associates in Dallas and Plano. I believe that is the same office of Dr. Carley. They do a lot with pelvic floor dysfunction. It would be nice to have a support group in the area.

Im glad you found someone you like. I also have the Pelvic Floor issue and Im just now starting to learn a lot about all of this. I was diagnosed 3 months ago with IC by my QUACK OB/GYN and HAD to find a dr who could actually help me and not treat me like dirt on his shoe! I do not know my future plan yet as what we are going to do next. I had a test ran last week and have a follow up on the 8th. I cant even remember the name of the test. Im just so overwhelemed with all of this right now!

I just started seeing a new uro/gyno at UT Southwestern. I've only seen him once but he's supposed to be very good. I just don't really want to refer to him yet as I don't know a lot about him after only one appt. But I will keep you posted!!!
Katie-46 yr old female dx'd with IC after 15 years of symptoms off and on long term antibiotic use, GERD,IBS and now IC diet, gallbladder removed, endometrial ablation w/tubes tied
                    Lexapro-20 mg
                    Aciphex
                    Ambien-as needed
Percocet-7.5 up to 3 per day as needed
                    Valium-10 mg x2 per day
                    Phenergan-1 at night
                    Prelief w/everything
                    Now recovering from acute pancreatitis

                    Currents treatments that help somewhat:
                    Heating pad
                    Hot baths
                    Ice
Being VERY still while lying down with legs elevated

                        Re: Uro in North Texas

[QUOTE=bluegoo06;550986]I know this is really old, but I will comment anyway in case it helps. Dr. Carley, has a long waiting list. I have heard really good things about him and his associates there.

Also, I found another good urologist in DFW area, Ginger Isom-Batz. She is very flexible with treatment options and seems really willing to talk with you about symptoms and really

This is very very much later but I see Dr. Carley. He is very kind. I had no trouble getting in.

There is a pelvic pain clinic at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. I see Michael Carley in Dallas and he has done surgery and 2 rounds of Botox. Highly recommend!
