• San Diego Support Group is Continuing!

    Hi all:

I posted a while back indicating the SD group was looking for a leader or it would fold.

We found one <more than one, actually! > so the group is continuing.

The next two meeting dates are Sunday, January 26th and Sunday, March 23rd. The group meets in the Scripps Well-Being Center at the UTC mall in La Jolla. Not sure of the time, think it's 1 or 1:30 pm. Will repost with the time when I find out.

I'm going to have to move in May or June and am think of leaving the SF area and going to Laguna or San Diego. Does anyone know what apt. rents are out there for a 1 bdrm or a 2 bdrm in a safe area? Up here a 2 bdrm starts at $1,300 in Marin County.

And are there any decent IC drs. around Laguna?

      Hi Kat:

I had a very nice 750 sq. foot one bedroom in a really nice safe pretty area in Rancho Bernardo &lt;nice upscalish town in north SD county&gt; for $985 in 2001. I'm not sure what two bedrooms go for but I know they cost more in Orange County than San Diego, as does real estate, though we are closing fast!

There is a really good support group in Orange County. You might check with them for referals in the the Laguna Beach area.

Good luck and welcome in advance, to southern cal.

Terri, Thanks a lot. I'm in a 2 bedroom now for $790 which is almost half what they're charging for them in this apt. complex. But because I've lived here all these years, the owner was great about keeping the rent low. Now I'm going to have to face reality and rent in today's market. I wish I could live in Laguna Hills with my friend, but I know things are much more expensive there. Plus I know I'm going to have to scale down to a l bdrm and get rid of all my STUFF!

            Hi Terri Q,

I live in the San Diego area and am interested in attending the IC support group. Have you heard anything about when the meeting will start? I'd really like to go and get to know others with IC in the area. Thanks!

              Hi Erica:

You and I talked but I thought I would post this message here in case anyone else is looking for the San Diego support group details too.

The next meeting is Sunday, March 23. They are at the Scripps WellBeing Center in the parking lot of the UTC mall on La Jolla Village Drive &lt;Miramar Road off the 15&gt;. They start at 1 pm and usually go a couple hours. We're trying to get the frequency up to once a month -- currently it's only every other month. They're always on the 4th Sunday of the month.

Hope to see you there! And good hooking up with you again!

Hi I am an IC patient and live in the San Diego area. I was recently also diagnosed with Vulvodyina/Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and I was wondering if anyone had any leads on Physical Therapists in the area who work in this field. Any info would be great, thanks!

                  Dear Samstars:

I am not personally acquainted with a PT in the SD area that I'd refer to. But if you'd like, you could come to the next support group meeting and someone there might know of a good one.

We are currently in the process of getting a San Diego IC support group website up and running. In the future, you'd be able to just post that question to a bunch of local IC'ers and get an answer that way.

Hope this helps and feel free to PM or write again if you need more info.

                    Hi samstars,

I see a physical therapist in Mission Viego for PFD and she is great. Unfortunately, she is leaving the office, but I will be trying someone else who is suppossed to be equally helpful. My current therapist is also trying to find someone nearer to where I live, which is North San Diego county. If you want more info about the therapist, please feel free to email me at mailto:[email protected][email protected]</a> . I look forward to hearing from you.
