• Central Valley doc?

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I may be moving from the SF Bay Area back to my hometown of Fresno. Does anyone know of any good doctors/urologists in that immediate area? Thanks for the info.

Hello and welcome back to the valley! I live a bit farther north than you. My doc is in Modesto. He is AMAZING and if its too far to come to see him, I'm sure he can recoment some one in the Fresno Area. He really understands IC and has been very agresssively treating me. He had me in for my first hydro 1 week after diagnosis and really understands the need for pain meds when you're in a flair. His name is Mark Salah. We are in the 209 area code. I am at my brother's house and don't have his card with me (a bad idea) but call info and he's easy to get. Dr. Salah even spoke to my husband about what a serious desease this is and helped him to understand what I'm going through. Keep me posted ;-) and let me know when you get to the area. This is a lonely and isolating condition and we can all use support.

    Good luck on the move!

Gina, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! <img src="graemlins/hi.gif" border="0" alt="[hi]" /> You have absolutely made my day...this was a real worry for me. Wish I could say my husband felt the same way, but we're splitting up and that's why I'm moving back. But I'm actually looking forward to spending lots of time with friends and family. I'm working on my resume this weekend, and will start the inevitable job hunt. The whole thing sucks, but it will be good to get a fresh start. I'll keep you posted on the move; it will be good to have someone to chat with down there!

        Hi Wen,

I lived in Fresno until 1997. My son and daughter-in-law still live there. In 1995, I had a Uro there that did not believe that IC was a disease. So he would not test for the disease. Luckily, I heard of a uro through a friend. And he diagnosed me with IC. He is Dr. Robert Julian. His office was near St. Agnes Hospital. He gave me my first prescription for Elmiron, when it was just released for patient use. It was a miracle for me to find a Dr. at that time who even knew what IC was. His office may be a good starting point for you. By the way, you can email me at [email protected] if you want. I will be traveling to Fresno fairly regularly because my son & his wife are expecting my first grandchild in Feb. Good luck with the divorce and the move....
