  • Doctor has prescribed steriods

Worried they cause me to extremely jittery and hyped up they were given to me to take for 10 days following the hospital stay which I had a sever foor allergy.
That and something for itching one makes me hyper the other took four times a day makes me sleepy.
I feel in limbo most of the day.
is this normal or is it because i am chemical dependent??

That jittery feeling is not unusual with steroids. I have taken them for allergy. The most important thing --- and I can't stress this enough --- is to carefully follow your doctor's directions when it's time to ease off the steroids. You do have to gradually cut down on the amount of steroid, but it's not because of addiction. It's because of how the body normally reacts to steroids. I have asthmatic sons and we've done the steroid thing a lot for them so I know the easing off is important.

I hope you'll be well soon so you can get back to something like normal. Have you identified what was the problem that brought about your reaction?

    Warm hugs,
    Donna
