  • give me a good book anytime

I love to read and right now with being on leave for both my husband and myself (in previous posting mentioned that he had foot surgery and I hurt my back somehow)
So just in the last 4 days I have read 2 books (would of read more but I tried to do some shredding of old documents from bed). Read Lisa Gardner one of her latest and Andrew Gross. (he also writes books with James Patterson)
I have 3 more books to read and who knows I might actually get to them. One of the books I have left is by Ericka Spindler and the other is by Fern Kelllerman.
what books have you all read. (know there is an old post of something similar, but oh well).

    good books

Right now I'm reading "Buffet The Making of an American Capitalist" by Roger Lowenstein. I know, that sounds really deadly, but it's actually very interesting.
Before that I read "Well Enough Alone, A cultural History of My Hypochondria" by Jennifer Traig, which was very funny, and "Three Cups of Tea", (which I read a while back but wanted to revisit), By Greg Mortenson.
I started "The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo", Steig Larson, but it didn't hold my attention.

Just curious---do y'all read via a Kindle or other e-reader, or still prefer an "old-fashioned" book?

Right now I'm reading "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom" by Christiana Northrup MD. I'm not far enough into it to form an opinion.

I'll take a good old fashioned book to hold any day!

I also prefer books --- and I donate them to a local library when I'm finished.

            books

I tried the Nook, but didn't like the feel, so I'm back to regular books. DH loves his Nook, though.

I just got done reading Water for Elephants. I think my favorite book is The Red Tent. My daughter has to read The Jungle by Upton Sinclaire for AP Lang Arts so I'm now reading that. It is a classic about the meat packing industry. Makes me want to be a vegetarian!

Suzanne, The Red Tent is of the best books I've read in a long time. I couldn't put it down.
I agree about The Jungle. Pretty disturbing book.

I just ordered a kindle - can't wait to try it!! I love books, so don't know how this will be.
But, my apartment isn't getting any bigger, I hate to give up my books so the shelves are starting to look ridiculous, and I'm thinking this will be great for travel

                          great books

I love knowing what you are reading as well! I am reading, "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voscamp. It has been very inspiring about gratitude. The author has health struggles and it tells her journey. I have also just started, "Life Interrupted" by Priscilla Shirer and the title says it all!

I also love The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon!! They are a little racy so be warned BUT SO AMAZING!!! They are historical novels set in Scotland. You will get be transported to another time. SO GOOD!

I have my books on my iPad but have found that I miss the sound of hearing the page turn and it just doesn't feel the same.

I tried the kindle at Church a few weeks ago, but I really didn't like it. I guess I like my books best- than I give them to the Goodwill or to our Wellness program at work and they can sell when we have a booksale.

I too tried to read the "girl with the Dragon Tattoo" but after several tries finally gave that up.

My daughter absolutely loves her Nook, but I could never give up books. I own over 700, and have at least 30 books waiting to be read. Besides my morning Bible devotional time, I try to get in some reading every day.
