  • Jury duty

Hello all. I was unsure where to post this. I got called for jury duty. At this point I'm only working 3.5 hours a day. I was doing pretty good on my diet not worrying etc. got the notice and the anxiety must be making me worse. I tried to call the urologist I just saw to get a Note, he said I can go down there with this. There is no reason why not. Ha ha. Yeah I will just be in the bathroom half the time. Hence I will not be going back to see him. He is so out if touch with women it's not funny. I cancelled all my appointments with him. I also called my gyno. She knows my history knows I've been suffering for years. Still haven't heard back. My question is what to do without a note I will have to go. Did anyone ever have to go through with it ???jury duty? I can't afford to dr shop fir the note. I'm barely working as is and have dr bills coming in.
    Thank you

    Re: Jury duty

Some of my doctors won’t write notes because of their beliefs that jury duty is a civil right (or something like that) I haven’t tried to get out of jury duty with the IC. I usually show up at the courthouse and pray I don’t get picked.
I saw a few disabled people in wheelchairs and some very elderly and I can’t imagone that’s not a hardship for them.
If I did get picked I would tell the judge and lawyer that I will have to get up every hour to use the restroom. And let them decide.

I got out of jury duty.. My Dr just wrote a note saying what I had and that I would frequently have to leave.. That would be disturbing for the whole procedure ...
God brought me to it, He will bring me through it!!!

      Diagnosed 2003
      by cysto/hydro
Elmiron took almost a year- made me sick, caused diarrhea
      Pyridium -Made me sick
Detrol and Ditropan, Toviaz and Mrrbetriq- caused constipation and head ache.
Tried DMSO instill- had 5 out of 6
Started Oxytrol Patch-stopped using them after 3 months-- skin was getting irritated
Cysto/hydro April 6th 2011-- on expansion only hold one cup
      IBS/ IC
High blood pressure meds and Crestor
      Metformin (prediabetic)
      Sinequan (depression)

Yeah I know you would think he would have wrote it. Since he won't I may just have to go. I'm just going to tell them when I get there what I have and that I will be in and out of the bathroom frequently. Hopefully they let me go home...if they don't I'll just go to the bathroom when I need to. I'm not asking all the time either..I'm just going

Call the jury place and talk with the head person. That's what I did but my Uro did write a note so I'm out of jury duty for life. The jury place might understand and give you an idea of what to do. I'm sure they don't want someone having to get up to pee all the time or someone sitting there bouncing around in their chair.

            Re: Jury duty

Yeah I did that just now the woman I talked to did not care. Was totally rude. I'm low income and can't get my dr to write the note, she said to just come down there and talk to the judge. I do have some old hospital paperwork that says positively I have ibs. so I wil take that paperwork with me. I have no documentation of the ic. I have all three ibs, unconfirmed ic, and Vulvodynia. I tried to call my gyno to get a note because she knows I have had this for years but she won't call me back. I can't afford to dr shop. So I guess if I have to go I will just tell the judge. I only work three hours a day..like 19 hours a week. That money goes to help with bills. So of course I can't dr shop. The urologist I was going to said that overactive bladder would not stop me from going to jury duty. I immediately cancelled all appointments with him and reviewed him online, he has no idea in the world how to handle women.

Well, that just stinks. The jury lady I talked to on the phone was very nice to me and understood my problem. Hopefully the judge will understand and you might not even get picked. They might pass you up.

Do you have a primary care physician? Usually they know more about our general health and are willing to write notes to excuse you.
