  • Hydroxycut????

Okay, I know, I'm probably just asking for it by even considering taking it , but the diet and exercise alone is just not working. Three weeks and I haven't lost a single pound!!!!! So I bought some Hydroxycut that is caffine free. Was wondering has any one else tried it? Does it work? and more importantly will it make me flare?? Probably, huh? Going to try it for two weeks anyways. Figure I don't have much going on for a while, if I flare I can just stay at home and beat myself for trying it-LOL! Wish me luck! I'll let you know how it works. I'll definetly let you know if I flare!!!!

I read in the Enquirer today that there is a all fiber diet pill. Supposed to be safe from what I read. they also have a web site for it. Can't think of the name right now.

All I can say is "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"...I'd run screaming from ANY kind of diet supplement that's advertised on TV....for many reasons, the main reason being this company was just sued by the FDA for false advertising. Another reason, you really have no clue what it's going to do to your body, much less your IC. I'd take it back with the receipt ASAP...no joke.

Well I'm on day two of taking them. Haven't caused any pain at all, but I am peeing like mad! They make me really thirsty, so it could be the 10 glasses of water I'm drinking causing all the bathroom trips. Upped my exercise too, 20mins a day on the elliptical and about 50 crunches. Hoping this works.

I guess I'm jaded when it comes to supplements like this, but this one really does scare me. It was on a special story on the Today show and all over the national news. The company that makes it was sued/fined by the FDA for saying people lost weight because they took this drug. They were shown NOT to have lost weight BECAUSE of the drug, and any weight loss they had was due to diet and exercise, which you're doing. I just don't trust them, they're scary drugs. I know it doesn't have caffeine in it, and I'm assuming it doesn't have ephedra, but whatever IS in it, you can be sure thanks to the news that IT won't be the reason you lose weight...those extra crunches and workouts you're doing will be the reason.

I did lose 10lbs in two weeks taking Dexatrim once, with no exercise or calorie cutting, so I'm just looking for a "boost". Promise I'll stop taking it when my bottle's gone That's 10 days.

I'm with Sandy on this one. I honestly believe that by me taking suppletments in my yonger years contributed to my IC. I first noticed it when I was taking Xenadrine EFX...horrible stuff. I hope you reconcider. I did hear the same thing that Sandy mentioned. The safest way to loose weight is to increase your exercise (more than your doing) and decrease your calorie intake.

              Please be careful.

oh I know how you feel... in the past 2 years of my ailments being worse I have really packed on the pounds... but like others... I have tried some OTC or TV diet pills and every one of them has led to more symptoms of my already painful conditions.
I am praying for relief from the pain to be able to move more. We can pray for that together!

I think it was actually TrimSpa that was sued. Well, I know Trimspa was, but maybe Hydroxycut was, too. I took it several years ago, back when it had ephedra, and I ended up in the hospital with a heat stroke, just like some of those pro athletes did, except a couple died.
I'm with the others...if you want to aid the diet and exercise, then just take some chromium...it's an ingredient in just about all the diet pills, and it's probably the only one that helps. You can find that in the vitamin isle. You are just playing russian roulette with those things. I say this not because of IC, but just health in general. I think most of that stuff is mental...but if you really believe in it, then at least talk to your doc about its safety in conjunction with your other meds and maybe some alternative all-natural options.
It's so hard to lose weight, and it plagues many of us because it is so difficult to exercise at times. I think we'd all like to believe there is a quick fix out there, but eating right and working out are the two basic staples of any successful diet plan. I got so mad once, I was watching the news, and the lead story was about this woman that had lost 50 or 75 pounds using...diet and exercise! I couldn't believe it was a story on the news! I was thinking, are you kidding, this is newsworthy??? It's just common sense!"
Anyway, good luck on your weight loss and try not to overdo it.

You should definitely talk to your doctor before taking any OTC. I got permission from my uro to take SlimQuick and it has not caused any flares or other nasty side effects. The weight loss isn't too much quicker but it definitely helped me have the energy to exercise and it significantly decreased my appetite.
Good Luck & please call your dr. before taking another pill.

                      Meme

I actually had this same question. With all the wonderful meals they have in the IC cookbook, with no attention to diet or eating low fat, my husband and I have packed on about 10 pounds a piece since we got married a year ago. I know it may not sound like a lot but it shows and we can feel it. I bought some of the caffeine free Hydroxycut today because I thought that might help speed things along a bit because I have no patience or motivation, i.e. I am very lazy. But my husband was mad because he said it was very bad for me and would probably cause an awful flare. But I don't understand why, it supposedly has all natural ingredients. And if there is no caffiene, then what is the harm?

                        Myca,

I don't want this to come out the wrong way and I mean no disrespect...but if you are "lazy" and have no motivation, just taking a diet pill isn't going to do much for you. However, if you are able to begin exercising even a little, then that in conjunction with cutting some calories will actually give you more energy, and when you begin to see a difference, you may have more motivation to continue to reach your goals.

My hubby was a trainer in the past, and he's been helping me with my diet and exercise. One thing he showed me is that if you do some light weight training on your arms, you will see some difference pretty quickly...and that might help motivate you to continue.

Also, some meds could be contributing to your weight gain. I took Lyrica for a few months and was dieting like mad and losing no weight, and then I learned the Lyrica causes weight gain...so I talked to my doc and quit taking it and within days lost a few pounds.

And remember as far as the diet pills go, just because they are "all natural" doesn't mean they are okay. Opium and cocaine could be considered all natural as well, and we know they aren't good for us, LOL.

If you are insistent on taking the diet pills, just make sure to check with your doc or at least the pharmacist to make sure there's no possibility of a bad reaction with any of your other meds and that you don't have any other health conditions (ie: heart problems) that could be complicated by the pills.

Most importantly, good luck in your quest to become healthier and happier with yourself!

I know what you mean. I agree that just taking a pill like this is not the ultimate ideal or a quick fix. But like you said, noticing a difference seems to help. What usually happens when I start working out, I do it for about 2 weeks and then quit because I don't notice anything. I am hoping that with something like this, it will help speed up the process and make me more motivated to continue. My husband and I are also eating healthier these days.

I agree, I should check with a doc to see if it interferes with my other meds. But I wonder, are there any "diet pills" or supplements that are okay for you to take?

Just wanted to re-quote my own post from before. This company WAS sued recently for making false claims about weight loss. Not to mention that they have NO regulations on what they put in those pills...you say they use only natural ingredients, but do you REALLY know?

I know I wouldn't take the chance and take it even if I didn't have all the health problems I have. Ultimately it's your body, but you should definately do some research into the false claims. They were mentioned on the Today show, by NAME a few months ago.

I totally understand your frustration in working out for a couple of weeks and seeing NO change...it doesn't make you want to continue on when you aren't seeing the fruits of your labor. That's why my hubby had me starting with arms and abs. Your arms will change shape very quickly. And the exercises are ones that can be done very easily at home, with just a $20 set of resistance bands from Target or a similar store. If you are interested in more about it, I would certainly be willing to PM you or email you a few days worth of exercises to try. Or, if more people are interested, I could post them here.

He does things in certain orders and on certain days and apparently all that makes a difference. And as for meals, I'm against that whole no carb thing, I try to balance each meal with a serving of protein, a serving of carb, and some veggies. And I don't "give up" foods...if there's a day that I am craving cheesecake, then I'm gonna eat my cheesecake...but just a small slice. I also try to find low fat recipes of my favorites...like I have a wonderful and simple low fat banana bread recipe...I have made it twice and each time we devoured the loaf in days!

Keep us posted on your progress and again, let me know here or PM if you want some specific exercise plans given to you. Again, all the weight training I do is at home using the floor, a chair, and a set of bands...sometimes a balance ball, but enough can be done without the balance ball so you wouldn't need that. and you need to try to also incorporate cardio into your day, maybe start at even just 10 minutes of walking or biking or elliptical if you have any of those at home, if not, a walk around the block with do. As you feel better, on non-flare days, you should try and make it to 30 minutes of cardio and then your weight training, for a total of about 1 hour of workout 5 days a week. And yes, you will build to this, you won't just wake up tomorrow ready to do two-a-days!

Okay, rambling now...just let me know if you want any help setting up workout plans.
