  • Sooo Annoyed!

Well this doesn't have anything to do with IC so I guess it goes here. Didn't know if I should put it under family or here but I totally need to vent. First off I will start off by saying I know that I am being a little silly but this totally annoys me. My cousin is coming to visit me today. She lives in Southern MD so it's about a three hour drive for her to get here. I haven't seen her in about 6 months and then I only got to see her for about 20 minutes. I have really wanted to go and see her because she is prego and I'm so excited for her but my IC has been so all over the place I've been very nervous about driving that far. So she decided to come and see me instead. Anywho, I got up this morning and gave Griffin a bath, got him dressed all nice and cute. It's always important to me that he looks cute when a family member that hasn't seen him for awhile is coming. So my mil and oldest step son want to take him out with them to the grocery store and Kmart his morning. Alright, that's fine, Shane and I don't really get to do much by ourselves. So we did a couple of errands too. I come home to find my 2 1/2 year old playing with markers. Even under normal circumstances I would not like this because they are regular markers and he is too young for them, he'll make a mess all over everything, carpet, couch etc, just not a good idea. So I take a look at him and he has marker all over him, his hands, his shirt, his really nice jeans, everywhere. And these are cheap markers so it won't come off his hands! I can understand that he's not going to stay totally clean before she gets here but it is too much to ask that they don't give him stuff that will stain his skin and not come off!!!!! I want him to look cute for at least the first 5 minutes she gets here!!! Shane told me to go soak him in the tub but he already had a bath this morning and I don't want to dry is skin out in this cold weather. I know that they were trying to be nice and get him a present but nobody ever things before they do anything, my MIL should have known better. Ugh, I can feel my bladder spams, I better let this go, but is so frustrating. Even if I am being retarded thanks for letting me vent

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I would suggest soaking and then some lotion when her gets out. 1 extra bath won't hurt his skin. I know how you feel it seems like everyone lets COlten do the dumbest things when I really don't have time to clean up after him. Try to have a good visit anyway. Your cousin will soon understand a clean 2 year old is the hardest thing in the world to accomplish.

Yikes!!! I'm sure your cousin will think he's cute no matter what, but couldn't they have picked a little cleaner toy? Obiviously they just weren't thinking. Try to let it go, no use of getting a flare when your cousin is down. Have a great time!

Thanks everybody, of course she didn't care and I did let it go. We just got back from dinner at OutBack where I think I probably ate some stuff that I shouldn't have so I'm drinking lots of water and just took my AZO. Hopefully that will help with the pain I'm starting to have. My cousin just went to see a friend of hers that lives around here and she'll be back a little later. I should be feeling better by then I hope. We're going to go through some of Griffin's old stuff to see what she wants to take with her. She already has 2 kids but there is such a big age gap between them, Bryan is about to turn 17, Alayna will be 7 right after the baby is born. She has nothing for this baby because she didn't save anything after having Alayna. We know that we're not having anymore, 4 kids is plenty, so I'm going to give her whatever I can to help her out.

I hope your visit goes well. And wait til your son is 4 or 5. Mine can't keep 'good' jeans anymore w/o holes in the knees or grass stains. It's just a never ending battle.

One tip I learned recently is to use windex on grass spots. And they truely came out clean! You might give it a try on the markers........I'll keep my fingers crossed.

              Thanks Jamie,
Well we solved that problem, I hid the cheapy markers back in the laundry room never to be used again and I went out and bought him those Crayola Wonder Colors. They have markers and finger paints that only show up on the paper. They look clear on everything else, clothes, carpert, hands. The only thing they will work on is the special Crayola paper and it takes about 30 seconds for it to show up after he draws or paints with them. I love that stuff, I just put it up though so he doesn't use them too much and get bored with them. Those will be his special Mommy/Daddy wants so peace and quiet toys.
