  • Two police officers killed in Charlotte

I know this has made national news, but I felt compelled to write this here. Our city lost two of it's finest citizens April 1st, 2 police officers, shot senselessly in the HEAD by a crazy maniac who had no regard for life. He wanted to make sure they were dead.

This whole city is in mourning, including me. I can't see a police officer without thanking them for all they do to keep us safe.

If you haven't seen this story, please go to http://www.charlotte.com/ to read the full story.

Their funerals have drawn officers from all over the country. The procession is going to be several miles long to the cemetary.

On a side note, I'm ok, haven't been online but things are ok here, just have been very, very busy. Today I'm exhausted and just very sad.

I didnt want to make this about me, I wanted to thank these officers for giving their lives for our safety.

It's a sad, sad few days in this city.

The procession from the church, which holds 5,000 people, was 17 miles long. It's wrapping up at the gravesite. We'll do it all over again tomorrow for the other officer. There were people all along the route holding American flags, crying, waving at the police officers in the procession. It's amazing how a community can come together like this.

This man had a wife, a 3 1/2 year old, and a baby on the way. To see his pregnant wife carrying their toddler was just heartbreaking.

The guy they have in jail for this apparently won't talk, at all. He's said one or two words when they asked him his name. Thats it. He's a cocky, arrogant jerk and I hope he gets punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I can't imagine finding jurors here in the city that wouldn't be biased, or hadn't heard about this on the news.

A couple years back we had a officer killed for basically no reason what so ever. He also left behind a wife and a small child. Every day they go to work they have that danger and it takes a special person to be able to do this job. It is a very thankless profession.

Having a brother in law enforcement and many close friends who have hubbies and relatives who also are involved, it just scares me everyday knowing that there are chuckleheads out there that are so oblivious that they do something like this. I can't imagine what the families of those two slain officers are dealing with. They made the ultimate sacrifice. It is awesome to see the city support.

I'm 47 years old, married 27 years. I have two wonderful boys and two wonderful grandchildren. I was diagnosed in 1994. Life has certainly thrown me many many surprises, all of which I'm trying to stay positive and hopeful, and I try to think about my blessings not my misfortunes, when possible. Stay Strong!
