  • I Need Advice

So my mother's birthday is next Tuesday and I have to send her a birthday card for the sake of my brothers. She and I do not talk for many reasons... She was not much of a mother to me when I was growing up. She's very selfish. She had an affair and while doing so, basically told my father that she didn't want to be a mother anymore. Needless to say, she and I don't have a relationship.
My dad wants me to send her a card, though, because my brothers still have a relationship with her and it would only cause problems if I didn't send something. My question is this: What should I put in the card? The card itself is hilarious- it's this really ugly bird on the front and the words inside say: "Happy Freakin' Birthday." It's great... I just don't know what to put on the inside. Help!!!
**I could have my long list of current medications and diagnoses and the other medications that I've tried, but I'm going to focus on something more: words that inspire and motivate me to keep my head up and keep fighting.**

"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."
"The honorary duty of a human being is to love."
"The main thing in one's own private world is to try to laugh as much as you cry."
"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded. "
"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain. "

honestly the best thing to do is to just simply say happy b-day mom,and thats it.if you get into writing anything else it will probably make matters worse.

You're probably right... I just don't want to risk making things worse by not saying the right things... she tends to take things out on my dad when she has problems with me and I don't want that to happen either.

I agree with Jamie, just keep it simple, either put happy birthday or all of you just sign your names and send it.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Just sign your name. And then forget about it. You did your duty; the whole issue isn't worth giving space in your heart for. Get it in the mail, and then you can forget about it for another year!
Je vous souhaite de la joie, de la bonne santée, et tout ce qu'il y a de bon dans la vie.
Wishing you happiness and good health, and all the best out of life.
