  • I'm sick

UGH I hate this cold. Yesterday the temps were in the 50s, today it got up to near 70! Tomorrow is supposed to be back in the 40s again. I was wondering what do you all take for throat lozenges. I got some Ludens Honey Licorice (blue bag) and Ludens Wild Honey (orange bag) It used to be in tins, but now it is in plastic bags. Both flavors taste good. I did try Halls Breezers but hated the taste. The other Halls just taste horrible and irritated me. I also take Tylenol Cold Multi Symptom (Rapid Release Gels) They have them in Cool Burst but those have citric acid in it. I need to get chicken soup. Oh and I have a endoscopy scheduled for this Friday.

I hope you're able to get some rest until you feel better. I totally detest having a cold.

I'm sorry you are under the weather. I had a slight cold this week and got the Luden's Cherry Flavor. Also I take the Ricola throat drops. (original) I don't like Halls and they make me nauseous. I use Vicks rub and put it on my throat and a little under my nose. Works wonders. Also I used Saline spray and that is great for dryness and irritation.

The weather where I am is drab and depressing. The snow is melting but it's dirty and slushy. And the days are dark. So sad!

Oh...and I like to drink hot water with a little honey. That seems to help with a cough or irritation.

Feel better and good luck with the procedure this week.

(Feel free to ask me any questions about meds.)

AHHH! I hope I don't get more sick or worse. I just found out that Tylenol Cold Multi Symptom Cold in Rapid Release Gels have been recalled! I'm scared. I took two of them yesterday and two today. I have also taken them in Jan. The recall was issued Jan 14 2011. But I'm fine. I'm breathing ok. I'm walking. So I got the Alka Seltzer Plus Day and Night Liquid Gels. I just bought it today at CVS.

I'm going to feel miserable come Friday. Cold, sore throat, then endoscopy? I hope they will still do the procedure even though I have a cold. I already paid part of it. Anyone else had a cold before doing a medical procedure?

Oh I hate being sick. I feel for you!

The only thing I tend to take with a cold is an expectorant to keep the juices flowing. That, good old homemade chicken soup, and lots of water.

I don't think I've ever been sick when I've had a medical procedure scheduled. Talk about taking something that isn't any fun in the first place and making it worse! I'd probably be tempted to cancel and re-schedule myself.

          Feel better soon!

            sick

            Hi ana,
            So sorry you're sick.
I can't use most throat lozenges but I have found that Aloe liquid really helps a sore throat.
I use George's which I get from a health food store. It's very pure, no additives to bother the bladder. I just drink it a few times a day, or you can gargle with it, there's no taste at all, it's like drinking water. My DH uses it for sore throats too.
I hope you feel better, and good luck with the endo.

              Endoscopy went fine..

Endoscopy went fine. The sedative that they gave me was a little painful for a few seconds. This time it took me a day or two to feel better. I'm also doing acupuncture for the bladder and acid reflux issues. Today my acupuncture doctor put the needles near my eyes, my head and my neck. I have some mucus. I'm wearing my heat pack as well. I wear that throughout that day. The acupuncture doctor told me to try and get 9 hours of sleep per night. Avoid cold drinks too. Wonder why avoid cold drinks? I think the acupuncture is helping with the bladder. I go twice a week and it's $40 per visit. It's $20 for the heat pack. I tie it around my waist.

The gastroenterologist took a biopsy and I should know results sometime this week or next. I don't know how often I have to do endoscopy. I have had acid reflux disease since I was 20. He did say to avoid coffee, fatty foods and spicy foods. I may ask him about Kava, Puroast, Euromild and Teeacino.
