Hope some saw Dr. Judith Reichman talk about bladder incontinance, urgency and stress incontinance. It was poorly done and both the Dr. and the interviewer giggled about needing to discuss this subject. They talked about how women are hiding in their homes scared to go out and scared to get help for their bladder problems. Said it will affect 1 out of 3 women. Never did they mention IC or Painful Bladder or Overactive bladder.

They explained that you might read about this subject if you go to the web site www.todayshow.com (click on Shhhh Control your bladder Problems)

Hope you can find this item, it was interesting to watch and I was sooooo
disappointed in it. They should have brought Jill and other web site people together and they could have put on a good hour of good information.

Take care, and remember, that identifying the source of the pain is not the same as defining the disease.

I'm happy I didn't see it. I agree with Erika, it just would have ****** me off.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

What I thought was most upsetting was when Dr. Judity Richman said that women needed to drink less water. She actually suggested that when we go out walking to not carry any bottled water with us so to stop the need for peeing so often. That really burns me. No one would ever tell male athletes to stop drinking water and with the warmer weather it might cause some walkers to become dehydrated and very sick. It is in the high 80's here in Alabama, and soon to be high 90's!

I had bladder frequency when I was a child and the teachers complained to my parents because I needed to go to the lady's room too often.

My own solution was to protect myself and not make problems for all the adults and I would limit my drinking at school. I remember sitting in class and day-dreaming about drinking fountains with all the cold water I could drink, I was sooo thirsty.

I wish you all saw it so you would get the full impact of this program. It was like lets all talk about this funny gotta go problem women have, but lets not really tell the truth!

Stop drinking so much water is the worst thing you can do when having IC. I go into a major flare if I don't drink enough. Years ago a doctor told me that I was drinking to much fluid when I was seeking help with my bladder. The doctor did not even ask me how much I drunk, how many times I urine or nothing. Complete ignores this is when someone talks about things that they have no idea about. They can laugh because they aren't dealing with this issue daily and fighting to get some relief for pain. For the life of me I don't know why people would think it is funny about having bladder problems. Again it is because they have no idea what is happening. And yes they should do their research.

Yes I am pretty well upset with this too. I guess because we do deal with it daily.

Sending hugs to you, sorry you have to hear such nonsense. Trishann

What an idiot! If Idon't keep my urine pale yellow at best it burns like crazy! I asked my uro if I drank too much (about 3 liters total fluids) he said no. The human body NEEDS at least 64oz a day of fluids to function optimally! He said that peeing your pants isn't normal no matter how much you drink, and peeing 100cc a time isn't normal either!! Nor is peeing more than 8 times a day. This has nothing to do with fluid intake! If you drink a gallon of water before bed than yes you will wake up, BUT HELLOOOOOOOO! This is truly terrifing that such a person is speaking for the medical communitiy, i'm so glad I am not in her care. (my spelling is scary too )

I also saw the Today show this morning as well..

I can't believe she said not to drink so much water, well I guess she does not have any bladder problems at all..
If she did it would be a different story don't you think !!!

When will these doctors get this that it is a big problem in the world..
Thinking positive has got me through to another day!!
