  • prayers please

I just found out today (I'm away at college) that my dog, Duchess, has ingested poison some time on Sunday during her walk. She started having seizures and throwing up blood in the middle of the night and my family took her to the doggie ER. Two specialists later they gave her a blood transfusion, and platelet transfusion and she got better. However, today she is doing worse as she has bleeding on her brain and is in a coma. She is no longer making her own tears etc. and they are giving her 48hrs before giving up.

Please pray that she will get better, that dog is my life. She's a tiny Chinese Crested dog that is only 9yrs old... she should have a long and happy life ahead of her.

I'm beyond furious that my family kept this from me (because that's what my mom wanted) because I have 3 exams this week. My beloved Duchess is much more important than school though. I can't go home until tommorow either because I have an exam in the morning, one which the professor does NOT give makeups. It doesn't help that it's the Friday before our Spring Break so I don't think ANY of my professors believe that my dog really is sick. I just wish my family would have told me earlier because this particular professor does give exams earlier, so I would have been able to take the early exam on Wednesday.

I found out today because my mom is in South Africa visiting family and her mother in law answered the phone and said "Is Duchess dead yet?"

needless to say I'm BEYOND upset

Oh honey don't be to hard on your mother. I know it must been hard on her to decide to tell you or not. Believe me, even if she is wrong in your thinking, she only did it, thinking it would be best for you. That is a tough decision to make and I know it was not easy for her to make that choice.

I hope you dogs will be fine, and I know you love that dog, they do become greatly part of us. My heart goes out to you too, I know you are really worry. Will be praying.

        Hugs, Trishann

That is so sad. So sorry to hear about your dog.
                          Christine

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Proud wifey of Shane, mommy to Griffin, and step-mom to Logan and Gage
Also proud mom to the best Bullmastiff on earth, Claus
