  • is clinging a sign?

Patches slept most of the day but by late afternoon she got up and came into the main part of the house. She has her favorite recliner in her room she likes to sleep on. She has been clinging to me every where I go. While making supper she either sat there looking at me meowing or laying on the floor. I fed her and she ate what she wanted. Had to sneak upstairs to use the bathroom because I am sure she would have followed me in or sat outside the door. A peeping cat. I did finally get to hold her stomach. Couldn't feel anything moving but just her purring. I'm being to wonder if I am imagining her having kittens? She does understand the word no too. Having to teach her a few rules in the house. One is I do not want her climbing into the dishwasher when I am emptying and refilling it. Plus she can't climb up inside the rocker recliner. She'll get smushed. Was trying to be nice about it but if I don't say it in a firm tone she ignores me and keeps right on doing it. Just like a little kid. I feel awful mean about doing it too beause she'll either run to the other room ,which then I go out and tell her she is fine, or she will flick her tail at me which I am pretty sure means she is ticked off.

Hee hee, I think you have one happy kitty - regardless of us having to "discipline" the little devils! There were a few times mine just about got her tail slammed in the bathroom door, since I didn't realize she was right behind me when I went in! And if I don't let her in with me when she wants to follow, she'll sit outside the door and paw at it, or the little paw will sweep under the door, as if trying to figure out how to open the darn thing! ha ha ha!!!

Sounds like she's become YOUR cat! Yay!!!!!

Seems like your kitty has got attached really fast...Cats seem to do all the things you discussed, they love attention and do not like to be told what to do..lol..I do not have any cats now, but I had one at my other house..I do have a small dog that follows me everywhere.. He will even tell me when hes ready to go to bed.. Its so funny to watch...If your kitty is preg you should be able to fill her stomach and it feels like little hard balls are in there and also her nipples will be getting bigger and they also will feel kind of hard..

Then I don't have to worry. I could not figure out what she wanted. That guilty look sure didn't help any either.

Her nipples are getting bigger and so is her tummy but sideways. Is it true they don't eat 24 hours before the kittens come? I've been sort of waiting for her not to eat too. Nice to know she is attached to me. She won't go in the living room unless I go with her. She will sit in the dining room under the table. Need to put a bell on her. One minute she is there and then the next second she is gone. At least I am learning not to trip over her anymore. I let her go down the stairs ahead of me.

I had to answer the phone twice this morning and take a message with each one. Well, I couldn't do it. Patches followed me in, jumped up on the chair that I was suppose to sit on and then she jumped onto the note pad and would not get off. I tried swooshing her off the pad but she stood there firmly on all 4 paws meowing. Which made it hard to hear as well. I had been crocheting when the phone rang so set it down on the foot stole. When I came back with her behind me I went to pick it up and she pounced on it and tried attacking it while I was trying to grab it for the rescue without getting clawed to death. It was one "Patches" of a morning. I can only imagine how her children will be. I thought cats were for soothing a person calm not give them panic attacks 24/7.

I can relate! My new puppy will NOT let me out of her sight! In fact, she sleeping underneath my chair here at the office right now! I tried to offer her the couch or popason chair (a far more comfortable option) But she wanted to be right NEXT to me since she can't fit on the office chair with me! But she even will follow me into the bathroom too!

I guess it means they love us!

                love,

My cat, Ruby follows me around everywhere. She has to "do" everything my husband and I do. We eat, she eats. She even "watches" t.v. with us, staring at the screen. Her litterbox is in the bathroom, and when she first came home with us she would only "go" when we went to the bathroom. It was apparent as sometimes she looked SO relieved that someone was going to the bathroom. She would sit in her box and look up at us on the toilet. It was really weird. She still follows us in there, but now that she's older she goes when she has to. If she doesn't have to use the box, she just watches which is weird.... but thats just how she is. She cries outside of the bathroom if she's not allowed in!

Just a note about pregnancy, Ruby is fixed but her nipples are very pronounced also. If I were you, I would feel around her tummy for the "balls" if you feel the balls inside she is pregnant. If you aren;t sure, you might want to take her to the vet. If you havent done that since you took her in, you might want to anyway to make sure she doesnt have worms or ear mites.

I don't think I could go potty with an animal watching. Even when I walked the dogs I tried to give them privacy when they went. I wonder if they know we are going potty?

I don't dare to take her to a vet yet. Trying to get her into the carrier might be too much on her and she already clawed me. Not on purpose but I still have my cat fear. How hard to you have to push on her stomach to feel anything? I only hold on the sides. Are they at the lower end or in the middle? She won't let me touch her belly while on her back. That is how I got clawed. She thought I was going to play and rolled up into a ball on me. I paniced and pulled my hand out. Didn't hurt but sure did bleed. was funny afterwards when I came downstairs from cleaning and bandage it. She came right over to me with that "I'm sorry" look. She even sniffed my boo boo.

Waterflow you do not have to turn her on her back to feel for babies... you can do that while she is dtanding up..

But if her sides are getting big then she prob is going to have some babies..Your gonna be a grandma...hehehehe

This waiting is nerve wracking. ha I keep thinking every morning I will see her in the box with the kittens or hiding in a corner. She is as cool as a cucumber and I don't see how. Wonder if she knows she is going to have kittens? I'll see if I can get a better feel of her tummy from the sides. Oh, one thing. How much do cats shed? I have combed and combed her and she is still shedding all over the place. You pet her once and have a good hand full. Found she does like to be combed. Wasn't sure if she would attack me. I need to get over my attack fear.

                          vet

Taking her to the vet may be tough for you both, but you really shouldn't wait. I remember you have dogs, and even if you didn't you should. She could have worms which are contagious to humans and dogs, ear mites which are contagious to dogs, heart worms which are really awful to treat and contagious to dogs among other things like fleas. Finally, if she does have any health issues it can be really dangerous for any newborn kitten babies. I would bring her to the vet before the babies are born.

Some tips for bringing her on her vet visit:

                          1. Leave the cat carrier out for her to examine and get used to for at least a whole day before the visit.
                          2. When its time for the visit, put familiar items in the carrier so shes more comfortable. I put Ruby's favourite blanket in hers. I also add some favorite toys. They provide comfort, and I use them to distract her from her fear while waiting for the vet to come in the room.
                          3. Bring her favorite treats. The vet has treats, but be prepared for her to refuse them. Cats are finicky.
                          4. Don't feel too guilty. Its for her own good, but she'lllet you know she doesn't approve of the treatment. She'll probably give you the 'silent treatment' back at home for a day or so.

Patches seems to be a sweet cat, so getting her in the carrier shouldn't be too big of a deal. If you are scared of being scratched, though you can pick her up/ wrap her in a towel so her paws are not available to scratch you. OR you can create a cat restraint. A coat sleeve makes a great restraint. Leave the coat out, and most cats will explore the sleeve willingly. Hold the end of the sleeve securely and your cat is restrained and cannot scratch you. I would not restrain her unless she is being REALLY uncooperative & I don't expect Patches to be uncooperative. She seems to be a very happy well adjusted cat that trusts you. You'll do fine.
