We just lost our beautiful Pit Bull Mix a little while ago. She was so wonderful. She absolutely loved our family and we loved her so much too. She was the perfect dog. Never mean and always loving. My husband was having such a hard time losing her as we all were. So I took him to the humane society on Father's Day to see perhaps about adopting another dog. I knew it would be good to help heal our hearts. We found some dogs that we wanted more information on. But when we inquired about them we found out that they were not good with cats or too hyper for children or too aggressive. We just had to be sure that the newest addition to our family was great with children and cats. We were getting ready to leave when a lady suggested we see another dog who we hadn't seen before. When we met her it was love at first sight. She is a Boxer Mix and still a baby at 4 months old. She is absolutely adorable. And we found out that not only is she great with children but with cats too!!! So we adopted her. We also found out at the shelter that she had been abused by whoever previously had her. So not only will she help us heal our hearts but we will help heal her heart too. And she will never ever have to worry about being abused again!
Sounds like a great Father's Day gift to me! You'll have to post some pictures of your new baby.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.
I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)
Proud wifey of Shane, mommy to Griffin, and step-mom to Logan and Gage
Also proud mom to the best Bullmastiff on earth, Claus
04/17/09 Crohn's disease almost killed me with a combo of extreme constipation from pain medications. My bowel ruptured, I almost died from peritonitis and spent several days in the ICU then more in a private room on the floor. If you have any questions about severe constipation from pain meds please don't hesitate to send me a message.

Congratulations! We also adopted one of our dogs from an abusive home. He was a very nervous boy when he first came home, but now it's almost two years later and he is a very happy, mellow dog. He came to us just as my IC was becoming intolerable, and he bonded with me before anyone else in the family. So he needed me then, and I needed to be needed (having just given up work and all volunteer activities -- at least for a while -- and with my daughter off to middle school, sports, parties, etc.), and so Rusty and I saved each other in a way. He is a wonderful pet, and when we think about how his life could have ended up, well, I just shudder. We are so happy to have him and he is thrilled to have us.
Although both of our dogs are unidentifiably mixed breeds, I have always liked Boxers, too. Enjoy each other!
Peace, Carolyn
