  • Feeling "normal" for days!

First let me say that I've had one urologist say he thought I had IC... and another one say I had PFD, but no IC.

Last January, exactly a year ago, after feeling great for many months, I started having frequency and pressure again. I went back on elavil, and since then have felt better, some days very good, some days so-so, but the general trend was improvement. I did, though, notice a pattern of having worse days on approximately day 10 - 12 of my monthly cycle, which made me suspect that my symptoms were related to/influenced by fluctuating hormones. (I'm 49) Anyway, right after Christmas, I decide to wean off the elavil (which only took about a week since I was only on 10 mg).

Well, the last three days, I have felt completely "NORMAL." I'm hoping this feeling will just last and last, but who knows. Besides stopping the elavil, the only thing I've been doing differently is started drinking Pellagrino mineral water every day. (Hope I'm allowed to mention a name brand here.)

I'm just hoping these good days last... and wanted to share my "success" with all of you.... especially those who are feeling particularly down. It appears that whether you have IC or PFD or both, nothing is "static" with these conditions, meaning there should always be hope that better days are just around the corner. I'm hoping this helps someone feel better today.

I love hearing that someone's feeling good! I think it's so important to keeping spirits up - thank you for sharing!

So glad you're feeling better! That is great. Obviously something is working for you, so wouldn't mess with it yet. If it gets you out of the pain, keep it up. Doesn't everyone have some weight gain in the winter anyway? You'll get rid of it in the spring...maybe a yoga class or something where you can stretch and have calmness may be the trick.

Wish you luck. Jill, wife of Bob

Feeling great is good!!! Incredible how grateful I am to have good days!!

My hormones also play a role in my symptoms. Before and after my period are big infection catchers for me. I was also having break through bleeding (bleeding between my period) and I started taking something natural called myomin. This has helped me tremendously.

              PFD and IC difference?

Don't mean to sound dumb, but being new to this , could someone tell me what does PFD stand for and the different between the two. Last night was not great as when I got home from my daughters house I felt the need to pee and when I went I felt pressure and then alittle pain after voiding. Now this morning I went and felt nothing. Sometimes it is there and other times it isn't. It this a normal thing to happen with ic? Thanks Barb

I have also felt normal for days! The last 5 days have been great! Then I started a birth control pill and thats a big no no. Flaring now a bit, not bad, I think I have it under control. Wont be taking the pill anymore thats for sure.!
                  28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

Woo Hoo! That's great. I was curious if you were still following the diet at all or are you able to eat anything you want right now. I've been doing well for the past several months now but I am too afraid to deviate much from the diet.
Sounds like Elavil helped you a great deal.

Just checking in again to say.... still feeling good! A minor twinge now and again, but no big deal. The body is not a static thing... movement is always occuring... and, as someone I admire a great deal once said, remember that there's is always more right going on in your body, than wrong. Healing thoughts for all who are suffering.
