  • I had a good day today, did anyone else?

    Hello,

I thought maybe a thread where if we just happen to have a really good day, or have tried a new med and it seems to help, or anything, you traveled for the first time in ages, please share it. I had a good day yesterday and again today. Last night was the first time in I can't remember how long, that I haven't needed to get out of the shower to use the toilet. Usually, even if I go beforehand, I still need to at some point. And this afternoon when I brought in my birds, usually just getting up wakes up my bladder. Not today, I need to go but not urgently, It can wait. Amazing. I might feel awful tomorrow I don't know, I'm on a new medication called Tegretol and it's starting to kick in. I'd just upped the dose to 200mg after a week, it's not been another four days since then. After feeling rotten after upping the dose, now I feel good. I pray this continues. Either way, these small achievements mean alot, and give me hope.

    It's really true!!!

Sometimes the littlest things give us the most satisfaction. I'm really happy that the new med seems to be helping you, that's great!!!
I didn't have any great"IC" breakthrough" but I did get something in the mail!! About 6 years ago my family went to Carmel and then SF for a summer break. I took the coolest picture of the street sign at Haight/Ashbury. So for Christmas my husband sent it away and it just came back yesterday on a huge canvas ready to be hung!! It's not gonna give world peace or cure this stupid disease but it made me happy!!
I'm glad you made this post, I needed to remember that, since I've been up for too long and it doesn't seem as though anything good has ever happened. Have a great day!!

That's great. When you're in pain so much, it's things like that, that help spur you on, remind you there's a reason to keep going. Give you a sense of normality. I just had another uninterrupted shower, and just got up out of my chair not because oh ok, I'm feeling alright so quick make the most of it, but because I just wanted to get up. I hope tomorrow will be even better, and I can go on a walk. It's been a few days now.

These days I measure my success by what I can do this year and couldn't do last year. I went to my son's cross country skiing meet yesterday for 2 hours and felt great. Usually as soon as the the cold air hits me I have to urinate.

I am having a string of good days... I have slept through the night for the last two nights (I usually don't get up to pee, but don't sleep through), and have gone 18 oz both mornings. (I can't be the only IC'er obsessively measuring pee, can I??) It amazes me how much more my bladder can hold at night than in the day time! We also just bought a new car that has heated seats! I commute 90 minutes a day, and this morning was AMAZING!!! It's like sitting on a heating pad.
          Symtoms started July 2010.
          Severe pelvic floor pain only.

          2 time PT graduate!
In medical remission since August 2011; able to eat and drink anything I want currently.

          IC meds:
200 mg Elmiron in the morning
          100 mg Elmiron @ night
          Macrobid after intercourse

          03/11 07/11 01/12
If at first you don't succeed: 07/26/2013!

This is going to sound strange, but I have been wondering since my diagnosis how much a "normal" person pees! 18oz sound like so much to me! I also wonder how many times a day a "normal" person goes to the bathroom. We are not obsessive, just a product of our circumstances! Glad to hear you are feeling better. I just started a new med yesterday and am hoping for some pain relief too! And I too, LOVE my heated seats!
