  • I am new but found relief....

Ibuprofen helped stop my pain during a 3 week flare with AZO Pain. (I also take Claratin every morning and Mucinex as needed. I have low thyroid- Levoxyl)
That was when I figured out it must be "bladder inflammation" ! So I started looking on the web and found this IC website, WOW ! It started making sense when I looked at the "food diet"....this has been going on for about 3 years now, especially during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays (lots of IC foods!). I am 56 yrs old. Winter made me drink hot things (hot Choc/coffee/tea) also . I could not put my finger on it back then, now I know. I made a few trips to the Doc which said "Bladder infection" but one time I had to go right back and they said "no bladder infection"...that left me puzzled but that flare I did attribute to coffee and hot chocolate. Now I have it under control with THE DIET.....I have also been using the baking soda/warm water like I found on this forum for immed relief if I "try" a little something new. I am so glad I found this website before I got to be in such terrible condition as others who write on here. Bless them. Now I am giving away all my home canned pickles, muscadine jelly, and peaches ! They tore me up! I instructed hubby this spring we will plant squash to put up instead of cucumbers, and plant blueberries...I can still use the peaches to make covered dishes to take out! I am going to try the CystoProtek to see if it will help heal and strengthen the bladder lining. I have started taking Glucosamine/Chondroidin a couple times a week till then. I have also started the pelvic floor excercise. The best to all of you. I love the recipe section !

Lots of people with interstitial cystitis find ibuprofen is a problem. I know I can't take it. Have you been diagnosed with IC?

Don't give up on the peaches and jelly even if you do have IC. I know I can have peaches occasionally, and I do eat small amounts of jelly. And your husband will enjoy the pickles.

      I'm glad you're feeling better.

we make our pickles like bread and butter type, with apple cider vinegar (which is non-acidic, actually alkaline) and cinnamon sticks and Bob can have that once in a while. Actually chop them up and make relish. There are solutions to every problem, and there are no problems, only solutions. Do you put citric acid in your peaches? That may be an issue. I do make a blueberry cook down instead of cranberries because Bob HAS to have sauce with chicken and turkey (MEN). There are alternatives for everything, trial and error. Good luck, hope you feel better soon. Jill, wife of Bob

Vinegar is an acid and is a problem for many, if not most, people with interstitial cystitis.

Have you tried taking Prelief before drinking or eating trigger foods? Also, it would be good to take the Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement daily instead of just a few times per week.
