    I wanted to check in and give those suffering a glimmer of hope because I was you 1 1/2 years ago. I was suffering so bad with IC which turned into a major depression and anxiety which turned into months of sleeplessness on top of everything. I had to take a leave from my job. At times I didn't want to live anymore, if this was going to be my life. I spent countless hours on this forum researching anything and everything that might cure me.
    Turns out following the IC diet (after some time) was a miracle for me. Anti depressants helped with my depression and insomnia. I am weening off them now. But my bladder is 90% better than it was. I can eat almost anything now. Even tomatoes, vinegar and CHOCOLATE The only things that will flare my bladder are coffee, alcohol, too much watermelon, grapes and certain breads. As long as I stick with what works I feel totally NORMAL.

    I just wanted to share so that it gives some of you hope and to know that it CAN get better. I'm living proof. I'm even biking 15 miles per day. If I had known this 2 years ago maybe I would not have fallen so hard by my IC.

    My IC is under control with DIET.
    Tried Cystoprotek but gave me terrible heartburn.

    Current Strategy:
    IC Diet (most helpful)
    Quercetin 500mg
    D-Mannose (when flaring)

    I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

    What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

    Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

      I was encourged after reading your post. So glad to hear you have improved and resumed "NORMAL" activities. Your story keeps me encouraged that Hope lies ahead.

        Hi Lizzylu- Thanks for letting us know how well you're doing. I'm also doing really well and actually have been able to eat a couple home grown tomatoes, some chocolate, and - do you believe it -a BANANA! Still use the prelief and watch the major acid offenders like coffee, tea, and citrus but have not needed any meds for three months now. I see you take Quercitin. I had taken it twice a day for a couple months and I do believe this is one supplement that really helped me. Here's wishing our (and everyone else's) good days continue.
