  • Mint tea as pain relief

    Dear All
Have recently started drinking fresh mint tea (just mint leaves in boiling water) - part of my hunt for enjoyable drinks without caffeine or acid. I have found that if I have a cup before bedtime it drastically reduces the number of times I am up in the night. I can get 6 hours sleep straight some nights.
Does anybody know anything about why mint might help?
    Has anybody else tried it?
    Thanks
    Cath

It could be that just adding the liquid is soothing. I haven't tried mint tea, but we do have some mint plants so I can try it.

I drink mint tea all the time but haven't taken notice on whether it helps with frequency or not. At least it isn't hurting me so I guess that's a plus. I did notice though that chamomile tea helped my bladder a lot when it was spasming and cramping.

Might just be the hot liquid like Donna suggested. I've also read that mint is very soothing for IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and as there is "cross-talk" between the nerves of the bladder & bowel, so helping one might help the other?
