  • Interesting Improvement...

So, 3 weeks ago I went to see my pain doc and I was in the throws of a horrible allergy flare up. I only have allergy issues in July and August each year. Interestingly my first IC symptoms showed up in July 2002. Anyway, my pain doc started me on Zyzal a new allergy medication to help me get through. It is extremely expensive! Since starting on it I have had hardly any IC symptoms! Each day that goes by and I do things to "test" the waters and nothing happens. I am wondering if it is just a coincidence or if this drug is actually helping me. I have tried atarax before and it didn't help any. I'm not complaining but I never have a reprieve in my symptoms so this is certainly strange. Now I don't want to stop taking it and cause my symptoms and pain to return full on but I have to consider the cost. Anyone else take this medication? Notice any difference?

Well since no one replied to this message it probably doesn't matter but my reprieve from symptoms has been over for a couple of days. Must have just been a fluke. Oh well...

I am sorry. It's so frustrating to think you've discovered your miracle drug and then it's only temporary.

      *hugs*

I know how you feel, when my uro/gyno was trying different meds, it seemed they helped for 4 weeks then bam he we go again. so far the new meds have help im on I think week 8 now with a few days of pain and a few night of not sleeping well due to getting up to go to the rest room. You will find a treatment and hopefully soon.

          Allergies n IC

Hello I just wanted to comment that I have 100 % confidence that my Ic was caused by allergies. Since taking atarax 25 mg my bladder has calmed down alot! I am allergic to wheat and for the past 5 years I had developed breathing problems which I had thought was my enviroment within those 5 years my bladder crapped out and I deveopled IC one day! All the full blown symptoms then after about a year of IC I changed my diet no more wheat products which I found the difference in me by using a food journal and now my breathing is perfect and my lining is healing again with help of elmiron. I guess I had alot of mast cells and histamine going on due to allergies n inflammation that the mast cells were like a meat tenderizer and ate at my bladder lining.
