  • hello it been a long time

Hello its been a long time since I have been in here. I just want to let everyone know that im doing great. I was diagnosed with IC 10 months ago. The doctor started me off on elavil 25 mg and that took away that burning feeling I always had but I still had that have to go all the time feeling so I went back to him and he said he wanted to put me on paxil 30 mg tabs. He said that alot of people use that for this and seems to work. He said that it works your brain into not caring about the having to go all the time. I was like I dont know about this???? But I did it and 2 days latter I didnt feel like I had to go all the time. I was so happy but for the longest time I lived my days with when is it going to come back. well im happy to say its been gone now for 9 months and the only trubel I have is when I eat to much fruit. but its nothing that I cant deal with. I mean I have my hole life back. I thought I was going to off myself that it was never going to go away. I found something that worked. If you havent been on paxil yet please try it. I dont sit around and cry all day anymore, i can even get out and go for long walks and not have to call my husband to come get me because I have to go to the bathroom so bad. I really have my hole life back.
sorry its been so long but its been hard even looking back at this. But I had to let you guys know about this. If it help at lest one of you.

      28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!

      Me in my graduation gown!

This is an interesting post. Something that I've been wondering myself if it's just head games.

He said that alot of people use that for this and seems to work. He said that it works your brain into not caring about the having to go all the time.
^ That right there may be the deal breaker for me. I have a feeling Elmiron wont do much as I feel absolutely nothing when I take it (could be because I just started it but I was atleast hoping for some side effects to feel it's working haha).

Now tricking the brain could sounds like a fun idea for this. Thanks for the heads up. I have research and a doctor to call.

Ok wow. Lol. YOU ARE LUCKY if you dont have side effects when you take elmiron. There are tons of people who can't take it! Plus, dont give up on it yet, and dont plan on giving it up for a year quite honestly. You have to commit to this drug... although I know how expensive it is .

I never had ANY side effects either until about 3 weeks later, and then I had a day when I was nauseous all the time. It didn't start to work for me for about 5 months, but when it did!!!!! I feel fine, back to normal most days. Its SO hard to be patient I know... but please don't give it up!!
