  • Success!

I am going to keep this short, but am more then willing to expand on this if I/We can be of any help. My girlfriend was diagnosed with IC and suffered greatly with this illness for months. After giving up on Western Med's poor excuse for 'help' we decided to go alternative routes. Herbs were of great use to get her through the day. The pain was strong, but less and her overall health improved. Herbal remedies did not cure the problem, but helped us maintain health while we searched for the answer. After seeing a naturalist he asked her when she had her latest ear piercing. After determining the date, we discovered lot long after she began to feel pain. It turns out that, like in the hands and feet, the ears have reflex points. The piercing was stimulating parts of the body 24/7 and caused liver problems and stomach pains which in turn backed up the body with toxins and ruined her bladder lining. After having removed the earrings she has been IC free after only a week of making that simple change. I am guessing this won't be the trick for everyone, but have faith that there is an answer unique to you. Prayer was also a huge factor in all of this. We truly believe God was by our side in helping us narrow down the cause.

P.S. Western Med may work for some, so don’t discount it! But from our personal encounter the worst time of her illness came from modern practices.

I am glad to hear she has been well for a week. Hopefully that will continue and she won't flare up again.

I have gone the "Western Med" route and it has been very successful for about 2 and a half years. Medications certainly don't help everyone, but they do help many of us. I also think there is value in some alternative medicine and I think it is something that should be looked at also with careful research just as we should research the treatments our Western doctors suggest.

Good luck to your girlfriend in the future.

    Diagnosed August 2001

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)

Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.

I'm sorry I didn't explain that well. Her pain left her in a week's time and has not returned. We didn't get our hopes up because we knew that her period is when it became worse.

I wish that the ear peicering was the cause of IC pain.. what about the ones who don't have ear piercing.. I have never heard that earpiercing causes liver damage and stomach problems, I am actually interested in reading on that.. my husband has liver diease and I have researched forever on liver problems...
How dose stomach problems back up the body with toxins and ruin the bladder liner?
I am very interested in the toxins backing up, as so many of us are because we all want to know how we all have this dreaded disease IC? not to mention the diseases that go with it.

what would your girlfriend say if you talked to her like that? I dont think she would like it! and nither does anyone else.
Thank you and please have a nice day.

I know you are new and everything but the majority of the people on the boards are women and we do get upset getting labeled.
I wouldn't go so far as to say I am crazy, alittle (B)itchy I will admit.
I wonder how your girlfriend would feel if she was to read your posts. I know I don't like it and I am sure there are alot of others that will agree however not so bold to be so direct and tell you so.

                Hello,

I have some snake oil, and some kind of medicine powders that may help but PROBABLY NOT!!!
I am not trying to be rude but I think naturapaths can be as big of quacks as any other Doctors.
You must know these people do not study long term and really have no qualifications ( most come from reading books like Hygia), especially to diagnose the manifestation of IC or really any other condition that requires a WELL trained and QUALIFIED physicians.
I am happy for her remission but believe that peircing an ear does not create the condition of a deterierated bladder, anyway where does this person get his/her statistics, weegi boards, crystal balls,or is it in lying in the bottom of some beautiful china cup filled with tea leaves?
I do not want to hurt you anymore than I know you feel you have been hurt by the lack of understanding by the Medical community on this disease, but truely do you believe this person has all the answers?
NIDDIK has spent millions of dollars and time on trying to find out the why's of IC and have not found a diffinitive answer as of yet. I do not think the naturapath is telling you the full story, just a funny story!!
I have hope for all IC survivors but by God, I am going to go put my double diamond pendant earrings in that my wonderful husband gave me for Saint Valentines Day and hope that his wish is not to make me sicker than I will already be with the chocolate and champagne we will share tonight!

I do believe in some forms of Western medicine but removing earrings and getting rid of IC (no way). Wonder why all these kids walking around with earrings everywhere dont have IC? (Joke)

                    Success

I am usually not a person to debate such a minor thing as taking my earrings out, but I have to agree with the other ladies here. I had suffered with ic for months also and I had weeks that I had no pain like in 1978 when I was diagnosed with ic. I really have a lot of faith in God and I have sought healing for 30 plus years and have not given up on it still to this day. Today as I sit here I would say to you that the weeks that I did not have pain was a blessing, but I dare to say that it was not success. I would say that if taking your earrings out makes your ic dissappear, by all means take them out, but please do not put others down that has to take pain meds. I have learned a lot over the years and that is usually when you speak badly of others that one day there is a payday for it. I have not worn earrings for months now and I still I have certainly not seen an improvement and that was before I read your post. I will agree with you on one point, prayer works, but for the precious ladies that have those beautiful earrings, I would tell you to leave them in.

May God Bless each and every one of you.

                    JJ
