  • IC, stress incontinence, and cystocele

I’ve had IC for 10 years. I’ve been able to control it with medications, PT, and diet with only a few flares. I recently had my third child and began experiencing stress incontinence. I was diagnosed with a cystocele and possible overactive bladder. I was given a pessary which caused a flare, I’ve tried doing kegels which also caused a flare. My Uro gynecologist is now talking about procedures/surgery including injecting a bulking agent around the urethra and placing a sling around the bladder. Has anyone else had both IC and postpartum stress incontinence/cystocele? What treatments did you try? Did anything worsen IC symptoms. I’ve had a more challenging time with IC recently which seems to be normal for me the year after pregnancy. I just don’t want to do anything that would place me in a permanent flare.

    Thank you!

I have had surgery to correct a cystocele, but it was not postpartum. The surgery and recovery went smoothly, I was hospitalized overnight. It's been over twenty years since that surgery.
