  • New Here...Dazed and Confused -- HELP!

    Hi Everyone,
I'm new here. I'm lost. I'm confused and have no where else to turn. I haven't been diagnosed with IC, yet. I went to my OB/GYN a couple days ago and he seems to think I have IC. He put me on vitiman C and prenatal vitimans with minerals to see if it would help. I know my body to well and I do expect another episode. Okay, here is my story:
Over a period of 6 years I have had episodes of blood in my urine (actually peeing pure blood). It'll start with no warning and last for months. This last time I lost so much blood, I ended up in the hospital. The back pain, my body aching, the bottom of my stomach feeling like some one beat me up, ill feeling all the time, pain during sex and pain 2 or 3 days after.I could go on and on.I have learned to tolerate the pain, thinking its normal and everyone must feel the way I do. Often thinking I was a hypocondriac, I just learn to live with it. Until it put me in hospital.
I have asked around and I have hunted for some kind of info that would help me know what was causing the blood issue. But, to no avail... not even the doctors I've seen in the past.
I was admitted in the hospital, the middle of August. They give me 4 pints of blood and then I was givin' a catscan. The catscan showed nothing, after the blood transfusion, I stopped peeing blood. Soon after, I went to my OB/GYN. He explained that IC could be my problem. Now, I wait, and wonder when I will start peeing red again.Has anyone out there ever experienced anything like this? If so, please shed some light on this for me.
    Bright Blessings to All,
    Sullyswytch

Have you been to a urologist? I would start out with a urologist and take it from there.

      Sullyswytch,

You may want to get into a urologist NOW!
Heavy Blood in the urine could be lots of things, you want to make sure it's not bladder cancer.

Yes I had blood in my urine due to IC, but I never was admitted to the hospital for blood transfusions because of it.

For a list of IC specialist docs can find them on the ICN's website, here:

      http://www.ic-network.com/md/doctorlistings.html

Please make an appointment with a urologist asap, this is your health here, you only have one body and you need to take extra special care of it. The serious blood issue scares me......

I pray that they find out what it is, and find way for you to NOT lose so much blood!

I will keep you in my heart and prayers that this gets taken care of in a speedy fashion!

      Best Wishes,

      Kara

Get to a really good urologist as soon as possible and have a complete work-up with biopsy and everything. Urinating blood is NOT normal.
