Hello everyone, I haven't been on here for a long time. Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I am 37 and was diagnosed with IC in Sept. 1997. I was fortunate in that I had a great Doctor right away that recognized the IC and began treatments. I have been on many meds and had DMSO treatments I have done very well the last few years only a flare here of there ususally my own stupidity with " Just HAVING to have a piece of choc. etc. " I haven't had to be on any meds for the IC in about 3 years only used the prelief which works great for me. I have now been diagnosed with asthma, acid reflux, and rosecea all within the past 6 months. I believe the flare I have now is due to the antibiotics I am presently taking for bronchitis. I do have a question. I have never had pelvic pain with the IC. For those of you who do. Where and what type of pain do you have? I am trying to decide if it is the IC. I know everyone is different but wanted to ask. Hope you are all having a pain free night. And it is comforting to be back on here with all of you wonderful people.

I've noticed the pain is different for different people. I thought for a long time that I had something wrong with my left ovary. It was really tender. Also lower back pain and pain down my leg, even onto the front of my calf (like sciatica). You were lucky to find a good doctor in the initial stages. I hope you can find a way to manage all this other stuff that's coming your way. There's great support on this Board; I don't know where I'd be without it!Kat -
When I have an IC flare it feels like very severe menstrual cramps. It's almost like my body is trying to push my bladder out.

Hi, my paid is in the lower pelvic area and ovary area and feels like someone is suddenly stabbing me with a knife then it seems to travel down the middle of my pelvic area and doubles me over. Once the initial stab of pain goes then it becomes a cramping type of pain like a bad menstraul cramp. Its the stabbing pains that really mess with me.Comment

Dawny,
I have several different feeling pains from the waist down but I'm not sure which ones are & are not from IC...they all seem much worse when I am going to the bathroom more though. I have a dull throbbing sort of lower back pain. I have a sharp, piercing, burning sort of pain that seems to shoot upwards through my bladder if I have been holding my urine in too long or if I am getting a bladder infection. And I have an intense but somehow not sharp pain in my Hmm...how to describe it? groin area? like around the vagina on the outside too under pressure. I THINK I may have vulvodynia though. That pain is gone now that I am on a different drug but I had it for a long time. I also have a pain during intercourse that feels like it is on the back of the pelvic wall if that makes any sense? LOL..then again since I don't know for sure if these are IC pains I guess that does not help you too much? GOOD LUCK! Hope you get sorted out soon.Comment
