Hi everyone. My story begins in 1998, July I think.. My GYN was treating me for Bladder Infection. That didn't work so then he dilated my urethra...didn't that hurt?? Ok for 3 days. My GP then referred me to a urologist who performed a hydrodistention, finding IC. I have been on Elmiron and Amytrytline ever since. I have bad days and good days. Now that I am retired and no longer on my feet for hours at a time, I feel much better. I try to watch my diet but I am a junk food junkee and it is sooo hard. I am looking forward to hearing from you and hope to find out some new things to try. Firstmate from Canada.

Welcome!!! hi Glad to have you among us and hope to see you around!
        Kim

        Diagnosed August 2001

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)

Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.
