  • My IC Story

I have been diagnosed with IC since June of 2000. It took years and years of people making fun of me for having to "go" all the time, and years of pain that I could not explain before I finally had a reason. I remember as a little kid getting in trouble for my frequent trips to the bathroom. In high school I would miss at least one day a week, because I just did not feel good or was so tired from being up all night. My husmabd and I had just been dating about 6 months when I was diagnosed and he has been a great support. Right now I am pregnant and have been off of all my meds for almost a year. I would not say I am in remission but I am having a good period.

I went through alot of grief when I was younger too. IC started around the summer of 1996 for me, right before I was to enter the sixth grade. I got alot of slack from students and even from some teachers. Seven years later, after I dropped out of school due to poor grades and IC problems, I am now diagnosed. I don't think it'd make a difference though, whether I was diagnosed or not, the students or teachers would still have had a field day making fun of me.

Sorry to hear you had to go through stuff like that and I'm glad you have a partner supporting you. Also, congratulations on the pregnancy. Have you decided on a natural birth or are you gonna take that epidural?

Anyways, getting a tad bit off track. I'm 18 and suffered for seven years and was finally diagnosed this year in June thanks to an incompitent Doctor but I'm still happy with the diagnosis I guess, lol.

Hope you continue having "better" days and look forward to seeing you around the boards.

Hi and welcome to the boards. You will find a lot of good, caring, and compassionate gals and a few guys here on the boards. We all know what the experience of having IC, and having to go to the bathroom frequently, is like, and can understand how rough it must have been for you at school. Congrats on your addition to your family, when is your baby due? You will have to keep us posted, as to how you are doing, and any help you need, or support, is always here for you. Once again welcome and look forward to seeing you post, welcoming hug Iris hi grouphug

Thanks so much for all the "hugs". Our little one is due 7/9/04, I am wishing for a 4th of July baby!!
As for the natural birth question, I am leaving all my options open. I am going to try and go natural with maybe some IV drugs, but then a epidural sounds so easy!!
