• My story

I used to post here frequently. I was diagnosed with IC n November of 2000. I was told I had severe IC and that my bladder was shrinking. I have had Hydrodistentions and other forms of treatments but none worked. I became pregnant in 2001. My IC all but disappeared. I thought I was cured. Until about 2 weeks after I gave birth. The pain returned but very seldom. Recently, I have been having terrible backaches when I go awhile without urinating. This past Thursday I urinated at 530am and did not urinate again until 600pm. Is this something that is pretty normal for people without IC or is this a new symptom?
I just wanted to say thanks for making this network such a welcoming place. I feel at ease here with thers who knw my problems.
Thanks,
Missie

HI,
IF YOUR IC WENT AWAY DURING THE TIME YOU WERE PREGNANT, SURE INDICATES A HORMONAL CONNECTION. WHAT DID YOUR URO SAY? GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW BABY!

Missie:

Did you drink water in that day??

I had this symptom 2 or 3 years before I knew I have IC, but I know now, that was a psychological problem, because it happened (??) when I had to travel with my boss, or had to be all the day in the street, so I didn“t drink water. But after 12 hours without pee, I late 2 or 3 hours emptying my bladder, with a lot of spams, and pee every 5 or 10 minutes, and belive me, was horrible!!

Congratulations for your baby, is a girl or a boy??

I go into retention modes where I can go many many hours like that. For me it's NOT a good thing because the urine just puddles in there causing infection. You really should have your urine checked just in case. It's so hard for us to believe that "normal" people only go about 5 times a day so when we find ourselves going many many hours without going we panic! I've been living with this for so long now that I can tell whether I'm retaining or just don't need to go

I had a baby girl! Ty for asking!
Well, I still had burning when i urinated but because frequent urination is normal during pregnany I didnt count that as a problem. My uro said the reason I didnt have any problems using the bathroom was because the baby was pressed up against my bladder making it easier to urinate. When I think about it--the frequency could have been IC related because I did pee alot, especially at night but i thought all pregnant women did! WHo knows right?
