Entire back pain...from kidneys to lower

Hi ya'll. I first joined your "wonderful" group a few months ago, when I was seeing numerous doc's for IC symptoms. I was recently diagnosed with IC and have since tried many, many medications; including Elmiron, MSContin, Oxycontine, Vistaril, Pyridium, Soma, and Enablex. My stomach could not handle the Elmiron, so I had to stop that. I tried the Enablex; however, a day after I took it, I developed (or could just be a coincidence) a horrible UTI. And...ever since, have had horrible back pain, from my kidneys to my lower back, with the worse being on my sides. Has anyone experienced this? I, along with most of you (from reading the board), live with, at least during a flare-up, lower back pain; however, I have never had such horrible pain in my sides. I called my doc and he put me on Cipro (for which I have been taking for 4 days now)for the infection...however, the back pain is not getting any better. If anyone has any input, I would love (and appreciate) to hear from you.

Sounds to me like you either (a) strained your muscles or (b) have kidney stones. I'd get it checked out, if I were you.

I have had kidney stones before and the flank of my back hurt so bad. I would go see the doctor and find out what is going on.

I think it would be a good idea to call your doctor. It does sound like you need to be checked.

Thank you all....N'importe Qui, octoberfarm, and ICNDonna...I am making an appt now. I just wasn't sure if I was overreacting or if this was just, yet, another, IC symptom. But, better to be safe than sorry. Thanks again for your replies.

Yes, very important to go to your doctor. It sounds like Kidney stones or Kidney infection.
