  • Pelvic Floor Dysfunction? Need any Help I Can get.

    Hey everyone,
Hope all is doing well. Lattly I have not been doing to well. Not been back to the doctors since surgery yet. Just talk to the nurse on the phone. Still have long way to go before i get in to see her.
But sheis feeling that I have the PFD. I have been haveing so much muscle pains not to be blunt to much, but in the anel muscle and also in the vaginal area also. I have been trying to find some and any info about it. It all says the same thing. But i need to know what i can do at home. My insurance will not pay for me to go to physical tharapy at all. I even had told my family doctors nurse to see if she can talk with the insurace company and no replay. Every day and not I am feeling this pain the rectel pain and then moves to vaginal pain. Its begining to just be torcher to sit up. Let alone anything to deal with the IC. After i take mortin and flexeril it seems to let up, but if i keep taking flexeril i will just be sleeping my life away. Being that the muscles are feeling so tence and tight, I am not sure to do kegel exercises, seems that just make them more tight.
Tomarrow i think I will try to get in to see her sooner. I cant keep feeling this same pain day after day its driving me nuts. Since i still do not have a job, not like i can just go pay for it.
Just wondering if anyone out there has PFD, and what they can do at home, what kinds of meds you take for it, cos most likely i have them here at my home, and this kind of info. I have heard of the tends unit, which is not an option since i dont have a job.
I just have this horrible presure ache feeling i dont even know how to deal with it, no help from teh doc as of yet. I am even wondering which doctor to see for it. Do i see my urologisst or see an og/gyn for it?
I am half tempted to see my ob/gyn. I might get in to see her before the urologist. So please if anyone has any info let me know. I am just in so much discomfort and pain i cant stand it.
    Thanks
    stacy

    Try Heat and Ice

Have you tried using heat and ice during the painful times? You do not want to use the ice for more than 10 minutes or so at a time because it can send you into spasms, but the heat can be used for extended periods of time and can help relax the muscles and the pain.

My uro does not treat PFD and says to to OBGYN. Until you can get to the Dr., I would certainly try two or three warm baths a day and rotating heat and ice and see if that helps any for you.

Good luck, I can relate to your discomfort and hope that you feel better soon.

Thanks for the info everyone, I will then call tomarrow to my Ob/Gyn. Cos the pain is getting every day and hurts all day long. I cant stand it. Its mostly in my rectum, and just aches so bad, I just dont know how to help in that area, its suc a gross area to deal with, and just is hurting so much i have to get up and talk around cos it hurts to be sitting, i just get up and rub my lower back and butt, but its not helping at all.
I will keep in mind ot just use ice for short time. I didnt think for that to use ice or heat. My doctor didnt give me any information on this at all. she just said to go to physical thatrapy, which i cant, so now what, lol its all crazy.
So thanks for all and any helpful hints.
        thanks again

Hi! Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I have PFD and have been to a PT. The baths and heat and ice sound like good ideas. My pt gave me some stretches to do--bring your knees up to your chest and hold them with your arms locked around them when you are lying down. Also, while laying down with knees bent, pull one knee over to the other side (keep buttocks on the floor). You might also ask your doctor for lidoderm patches. Mine help a lot with the pain. I hope some of this helps.

It could be nerve pain. I get alot of pain also. I also get that ache in the anal area too somtimes. Sometimes it feels like a charlie horse in my butt literally. It is painful. It could be a spasm in the anal area as well. I know it sucks, and I hope you get some help soon.

I was just diagnosed with PFD and started seeing a pt. she also said heat and ice helps although i have not tried that. stretching was the best thing for me..like someone else suggested lay on your back and pull your knees into your chest. the other stretches you can do are yoga stretches that stretch your butt and hip sockets. lay on your back with your leg straight up in air not bent and pull back with a belt then move your leg to the side still pulling with the belt. then cross your leg diagonal in the air so you feel the stretching down the outer part of your leg. mae sure you keep both hips on the floor. the other good stretch is to get on all fours and lay down on your knees folding at the hips stretching your arms out straight in front of you. the most important thing to do is to relax into the pain. im a dancer and over the years this has helped me tremendously. she also has me stretch on the inside but thats complicated. the stretching has worked for me tremendously. if anythign try stretching for a bit and see if that helps. this has worked for me but it could be the complete wrong thing for you. these are just my suggestions. hope this helps

                Pfd

Apart from the suggestions you already have, Valium 2 mg tid is often given for PFD. Check out Dr Moldwin's interview on this IC site regarding PFD. Bring a copy to your Dr if you have to.

                Good luck
