My daughters dance teacher lost lots of weight doing a system cleanse that you get at GNC...she lost like 25 pounds on that and then she just kept going with the diet because by then she had already gotten her eating under control. I want to try it myself but I am so scared because I can not take a lot of meds. without my stomach catching on fire and having some of the weirdest reactions to them. For instance, my uro tried me on Elmiron after 2 weeks of that stuff my stomach was on fire and I had to be checked for an ulcer and he said come off of it and see how you do...the symptons went away after about a week without it. I had paid $165 for a month supply because my insurance would not cover it and did not take the whole supply. So I am really scared of the system cleanse and you never know what is going to be in there that might affect the bladder. Sometimes with this disease and the others that related to it we can not win for loosing. You will be added to my prayer list that your days are not so bad! Thanks for the talk!

Hi, glad to hear you do not have crohns. Thats good news at least. You know I have IBS with Constipation so bad. And i swear no matter what i eat or dont eat, I cant loose any weight. My doctor said to writ it down, and cournt your calories. So i did. and the most i ever ate in 2 weeks time was about 1700cal. most it was 1400-1500. I never though of constipation would be a cause of not being able to loose weight really. But I remember when i had a laporoscopy done. She had me do a cleansing prep. same as a colonoscopy. and i had lost about 8 pounds in 2 days from it. It was amazing. But at the same time torcher, lol who wants to go threw a cleansing prep all the time it was down right horrible. But still now i have that problem. Its so bad not to be able to go to the bathroom. I feel for our sister cos i have the same problem.
well glad to her you really dont have the crohns, and i wish you good luck. also for your sister toos ounds she is not doing much better in some health issues.
    take care of you.

I have been tested several times for Crohn's and nothing ever showed up. My sister has it as well but she stays really swollen all the time and weight is sometimes hard to get off because of constipation.

THAT WHICH DOES NOT KILL, WILL ONLY MAKE YOU STRONGER!!!

    Thanks for your comments!

    HI,
I was talking to a friend of mine, he said he has fissure before, he said he waas given some cream and i think antibiotic because he siad it got infected. But he said it healed up within a few weeks he didnt need surgery at all. I know how you feel I am on my medication then my 84 year old grandmother who has heart problems.
Its weird how you have butt pain jsut after ur cyst just like I did. Mine started 2 days after surgery. I remember though I was so swelled from surgery that I had to strain so hard to pee. And the pain started that day. Thats why i have the hemerrhoid. Its still killing me. I called my family doctor to tell her its still hurting. I told her of the proctitis, which is swelling and pain at the opeing.
With your IBS, have you ever been tested for crohns? SInce you are going so much, seems they would test it. My brother in law has it, he is very skiny and had frequant bowel movements and abdominal pain.
Well I hope you feel better soon. take care. good luck withe the Fissure.

Since we are on the subject

I have a fissure (tear) right at the end of my colon and at the beginning of my rectum. Has anyone ever had one and what was the prognosis and treatment. I had colonoscopy back in October, 2006 because I was unable to sit at church without having this HORRIBLE pain in butt.....when I had the colonoscopy I woke up in the middle of it and started screaming when he got to the very sore spot....he said as soon as he got there I woke up screaming and they tried more meds but if they went any further they would have had to put me to sleep but he found what he was looking for. I have never been one to be constipated unless I am on the pain meds regularly for a flare but other than that I am pretty much a 3 or 4 times a day person....I should not weight 2 pounds but unfortunately I am at my heaviest ever and trying to do something about it.... ANYWAY, the doctor that did my colonoscopy put me on stool softners 3 times a day so imagine the time that I spend in the bathroom already having a 3-4 times a day kind of system. It has been very difficult but he says sometimes these things correct themselves. I had a hydro don on March 26, 2007 and my uro keeps me overnight with irrigation and IV antibotics and wouldn't know I had to get up in the middle of the night very sick. Since then I have been in horrible BLADDER and BUTT pain....how long would you wait to have the fissure checked out...I have a follow next week with the URO and he supplied me with enough meds to get me through until then but what about the fissure. ANY ADVICE? It's just I do not want ANOTHER surgery...I am only 33 and I have had more surgeries than my 64 year old daddy who has colon cancer. HELP!!!!

I had an infarcted hemmorhoid back in October that I had to have surgically removed...I can SO relate to the pain you were in , the entire experience was so miserable! I hope you get some relief fast!

I also know to well about the constipation. With that surgery, I went NINE DAYS without, um, going. I finally had to do everything I could to go two days after surgery, and my God, that must be what childbirth is like, just a different route out! Sorry, I know that's WAY TMI, but just know that others are in your boat too!

    Hi Everyone;
Thanks for all of your nice thoughts. Its nice to read that somone cares what you go threw and has been threw it, well not so much that you have been in pain. But nice not to be alone. Trying to talk to family of this stuff and nobody understands it.
I have tried pruns a lot. I do like them, but after a while they dont work. I also did the prune juice but it ended up giveing me horrible stomach gramps.
But maybe I will try the prunes again I think I acculy have some here at home.
The doc also told me to do milk of magnesia, which workds good, is so sweet, give me a stomach ache,lol..
On the 26th of this month i am haveing a Endoscope done. Just about everything hurts my stomach as it is. Plus have acid reflux. The doc thought maybe too food alergy could be a possibility. I Also am lactose intolerant. Which is why i cancled last year, cos i figured it out, so thought i be ok,lol
But of course i was wrong.
Just seems as times goes more and more things get added to the medical list. Its becomeing unreal. I dont even want to see my family doctor any more she just tells me that most of it is in my head, and that its stress and depression and i need mental help. Im stressed, cos these are real problems, not cos i was stressed before and then became sick. I never went to the doctor as much as i have since i found out of the IC. then everything keeps comeing.
Its such a pain, and now litterly its a pain in the BUTT!!!!!

A big thanks to everyone for the suport you have given me, it means a lot to me. take care of your own selfs.

Stacy glad you was able to get help. Hope you start feeling better. Stacy the dizziness can be caused by straining so much. One of my relatives had problems with straining and she passed out. She went to the ER and that is what they told her. I hope you can find something that can help you to not have to strain so much.

I am like you and get embarrassed easily but I am glad you went and got some help.

    Sending hugs, Trishann

    HI Stacy,
I have had little leisons around the inside of the rectum from severe constipation also. Gosh they hurt SO bad! IBS is brutal!
I can't remember if you are the one I told about eating prunes or not.....but dried prunes have been a wonder food for me and my constipation problem! I eat 5 or 6 with breakfast each morning and never have diarrehea or constipation! It's amazing......and the funny thing is I've had several dr.s thru the years tell me to try that and I always thought I'd have diarrehea from it so never took their advice!
One thing I did that helped a lot was to freeze water in a plastic cigar tube.....and stick it up! That took the swelling down.....crazy things we have to do to feel better!
I hope you get to feeling better and your problem heals up, quickly! Take care......Roxie

started a topic Back from the ER

    Back from the ER

Well I took the advice and went to the ER, since the doc is not open today. Glad I Did. Come to find out I have a small hemorrhoid, and something called Proctitis. Which is swelling in he rectum and the tissues arouns the anus. Says its caused by an infection but i have no idea who i get an infection. But if you have IBS, that can be a causeof it too. Which he asked if i am ever constipated, lol the question should have been when am i not constipated, it be more easy to answer. I said always, he looked shocked.lol But its seems what is causing the pain. Probably also what caused the hemorrhoid also. I had changed my diet recently.
I was eating just cereal 3 times a day rasin brans, going to the bathroom great, but gained a bout 10 pounds. So about 2 weeks i been cutting it down to 1 or none. Been back to straining to go at all. And a few times been seeing stars when i strain, Guess its a bad things. Also to even pee, have to strain, can see stars then also.lol...
Every musecle tissues area in that lower region is now enflaned. Ohh yeah rectel exam is not to fun by the way, quite embarasing. Nothing like a finger in your bumm, and asked how it feels, lol Like its suposed to feel good??? What a freek if they say feels good!lol...
But of course one of the medications is not covered, its a supository, supose to use 3 times a day after a bowel movement, lol who can go 3 times a day when ur constipated,??? So i didnt get it. Will call my family doctor i guess see what she says. Or maybe to call my og/gyn? i do not know.
But at least now i know why my butt is hurtting me so bad.
    Thanks everyone for the advice.
    take good care of you!!
