  • New to all this, wondering about pregnancys

Hi my name is Joanna flood, I'm 22 years old, I am new to this support site and very glad i found it I first started to have symptoms of frequency when i was about 18 years old. It hit me fast and really quickly. I had just started university and couldnt even get through 20 mins of a class without having to run to the bathroom and was getting less and less sleep every night. I went to my doctor and complained all the time of pain and discomfort and she would do urine test after urine test and nothing would come up. she just told me i had an over active bladder and put me on medication and told me to have more patience, nothing helped! I kept going back and complaining and she would make it seem like i was over reacting to the whole situation. Finally after a year of putting up with the symptoms i demanded to see a specialist. After i had the proper testing I was diagnosed with ic and my doctor told me that he didnt understand how i had been living with such severe ic for so long. I was so mad for being brushed aside for such a long time by my family doctor. I've had two surgerys to date to stretch my bladder and tons of medications but so far it will go away and just come back in a couple months. I have a one year old son Riley and my pregnancy with him was brutal. It seemed like the need to pee never went away. He also came almost three months early and I was in the hospital with him for almost four. What was weird is i had a flare up and a bladder infection right before i went into premature labour. I was wondering if anyone else has had such difficulties with pregnancys and ic?

Well, I had undiagnosed IC when I was pregnant, and I was very uncomfortable throughout the pregnancy. But it went full-term; I think most IC pregnancies do. You just had really bad luck; some people even go into remission when they're pregnant. But there are a lot of women around here who have been pregnant more recently than me, so they'll probably have better answers for you.

I mainly just wanted to say hello and to the ICN. You will find a lot of information and as much support as you need, here.
Je vous souhaite de la joie, de la bonne santée, et tout ce qu'il y a de bon dans la vie.
Wishing you happiness and good health, and all the best out of life.

    Peace, Carolyn
