Hi Everyone Im new to this but here goes ,I have had IC for 10 years and have gone to hosp for treatment every three months to get relieve of pain now Im in a bad flare up for the last 5 days ,Im on Elmirion and Sap-opium if anyone has any new ideas for this painI would love to her it ,Its nice to know Im not alone on this.Good luck to eryone hope to her from you charel

What other meds have you tried? Have you tried over the counter Azo? It helps pretty quickly for flares. Have you tried Elavil? It's a prescription but helps with frequency and urgency. Have you started the IC diet? Finding what foods and other things causes your flares helps tremendously!
This is a great site to find info, meet great people and just vent when IC gets the best of you! I hope you get your IC flare under control soon and feeling better. Roxie

For IC I use Elmiron, Elavil and Freeze dried Aloe Vera (it works likes Elmiron, but naturally)and Azo as needed. I also take Zegerid, Randitine for Barrett's Esophagus. (which causes me to have constant yeast infections!)I take Cymbalta for Neuopathy/Myopathy pain. I use the Climara patch for menopause symptoms. I'm on a very strict diet because of the IC, IBS and Gastric Bypass. I take Primal Defense Probiotics and whole food Iron.
I no longer have the awful urethral pain! I've been using MSM gel now for 4 mo. and haven't had a flare up or the urethra pain.....it's amazing stuff!!:woohoo: -
Oh God I wish I could take Elavil!!! That sounded like the only thing to help with my frequency/urgency
That's why I'm trying Topamax... I'm all out of meds or ideas to try...
