I have been on this forum for while, but I don't post much.

I have been diagnosed with IC since February 2006. For a while I was fine, not a lot of pain, just frequent UTI's and I have to pee all the time. Since this past October I have had about four UTI's, and I have been miserable trying to do my job everyday (I'm an art teacher). Luckily there's a bathroom right across the hall from my classroom.

Anywho, I have been taking ELMIRON for a while, which honestly I don't feel like it helps much. I have done DMSO treatments in the past, and they only give me a couple of hours relief.

Lately my IC specialist introduced me to aloe vera capsules and cystoprotek. I have ordered those and pray that they help me because I cannot live this way. It's pure misery.

Did your uro suggest rescue treatments? I heard that they are completely different from DMSO. Maybe it will work for you also stick with the ic diet, wish you the best of luck.

Andrea I was also diagnosed in February of 2006. I took Elmiron for a short period but stopped because of the cost and I after reading about it I just didn't have any faith that it would work. I've tried the aloe vera capsules and at first I felt they were helping but after awhile it just wore off. I could not take Cystoprotek because of stomach upset. I tried it for about three months but found it did nothing. But we are all so different and I wish you the best of luck and hope they will work well for you.
