  • How do you explain it to family and friends?

Just wondering if anyone has something quick /easy/ clever to say when explaining why they can't eat certain foods, drink certain beverages, etc. I'm tired of getting into a whole lengthy explanation, or needing to repeat my reason when people don't seem to get it/ believe that I'm serious. Without getting dramatic or extreme, I need a to-the-point explanation that people will remember and "get". What do you all say in these situations? Thanks!

I always say that i have something wrong with my insides, and eating the wrong stuff will make me hurt. it's what i tell my residents at the nursing home when they offer me chocolate or other stuff. that way, i'm not receiving anything from them (sometimes they want to buy us stuff to thank us for what we do), and not hurting their feelings. it's what i tell other people too. if needed, i say it'll never go away until bladder transplants become doable. when that happens, i'll be first in line. hope this helps!!!

Sometimes just saying something like: "I like it, but it doesn't like me." I also feel that since some foods cause me severe pain, I'm not out of line saying that I have food allergies or food sensitivities.
