  • Cystoscopy are you awake??

    Hi all

I am due to have a Cystoscopy soon and bladder and urethral stretch and biopsy and am just wondering if I will be awake during this??

This is my second Cystoscopy and was given a genereal last time but that was 10 years ago! I have a new Urologist who wants to start from scratch with me and see how my IC is progressing.

    Thanks

I just had to reply to your post even though I am having blood test and must get ready.
My first procedure was done wide awake and looking at the scree seeing my bladder.
The procedure was ok and didn't feel anything at all ..I had worked myself up into a frenzy-----but after oh boy did I burn I was doubled up in pain on top of pain already had.
Because of this the surgeon opted the next procedure to be done underG.A.
I have a third in ten days time which is under g. a. I couldn't have it any other way but you will be fine it doesn't hurt at all I think they use instilligel
good luck hope everything works out for you ---I think you very lucky to have an update

If the uro doe's a hydro/cystro done they will put you to sleep and this will be done in the hospital. I hope and pray the best for you and that you find a good treatment plan.

For just the cysto in the doctor's office, you may be awake. But with the other biopsy, etc., you will very likely have an anesthetic.
