I am new here, and I am confused...

I am not diagnosed with anything, but here is my story. 2 weeks ago, I had a UTI, got tested, it came back positive, got antibiotics, and went on my way. After the first round of antibiotics (Cirpro for 3 days), I still tested positive for infection, so I was put on a second dose of antibiotics. The UTI started to go away, and life was great. However, the symptoms came back...

I had a UTI in October, got antibiotics, and it cleared up almost instantaneously. No issues.

I have never had any kind of pain with the UTI or with the issues I am currently experiencing. I don't even have any burning; never had. Every now and then, I get a twinge in the areas of my ovaries, and sometimes my bladder feels tight, but no pain.

My symptoms consisted of the feeling of being full all of the time. At first, the symptoms were quite bad, and I felt like I had to pee all of the time. I would go pee, and pee buckets! But now, while I don't feel like I have to pee all of the time, I feel like I am tense, which makes me feel like I have to pee. Sometimes I feel as if I can feel a spasm in my bladder, but I may be imagining things. I don't know any other way to explain it. I consciously relax the muscles in my pelvis, and the feeling goes away, but I find I am more tense than usual. I feel tenderness in my lower abdomen, mainly around my hips and location of my ovaries. If I press hard enough on the area of my bladder, I feel some tenderness too.

I have been to a urologist, and I have to have a CT scan in a week, and a week from that, I have a cystoscopy. The doctor thinks that it is merely inflammation from the UTI, as I have NO history of bladder issues, and the symptoms immediately followed a UTI. There is some confusion as I have NO pain, no burning; not during the UTI and not now.

For more of my history, I was diagnosed with endometriosis 5 years ago, and was put on Seasonique birth control. Those pills were wonderful little things, as I experienced no menstrual pain for 5 years. However, 2 weeks ago, I went off of the pill, as my husband and I are planning for a baby. That is when all of my problems began....

I have also had a recent pelvic ultrasound, and the OB/GYN believes I have polycystic ovaries, which is news to me.

I guess I am just looking for some insight into what is going on. My husband has been wonderful, and I am even able to enjoy sex with him, as I have no pain, but I have been very weepy, and prone to panic/anxiety. I know my hormones have a lot to do with it, but I am still edgy...

Any advice/insight would be greatly appreciated...

Thank you! I feel as if the wait is going to kill me; not that there is any pain, but the not knowing is hard to take!

Currently, I have some minor back pain, from the middle of my back to my pelvis (which feels like menstral cramps). I also have a twinge-pain in my left hip area, closer to the ovary. Of course, I am still peeing buckets, but at least I don't have to get up at night to pee.

I have been holding myself so tense for the last week that my whole body aches, even the muscles in my stomach and pelvis area (or that may be from the crying). I keep trying to tell myself to relax, but that is so hard! I guess I am a little OCD!

I guess what is frustrating is that I have never had any issues, and when I get a UTI that the OB/GYN says is "off the charts", it is lingering...

The support I see on this board is amazing...

So sorry you're going through this! The not knowing stage is a rotten place to be.

It does sound like your doctor is moving forward systematically and that's good. I would imagine it's difficult to tell which symptoms are from what considering your having recently had the UTI, and coming off of the birth control would cause changes, including hormone fluctuations I would think. It will probably take a little while for things to settle down.

That's great you have a wonderful hubby! A good partner you can lean on is so helpful during this not knowing phase. Hopefully you'll get some answers soon!

I hope you find answers and relief soon. I know it is hard but try and get some rest. Take care of yourself and rest as much as you need. You are under a lot of stress right now, and it is probably much worse with the hormonal changes too.

Thank you! I keep reading about IC, and wondering (i.e. self diagnosing) if I have it. It has caused a lot of panic...

What I am feeling keeps shifting today, and now it is just an ache in the pelvic area, and when I sit, I feel like I am squeezing my bladder....It makes for a long day at work, and since I have a very stressful job, it is not easy!

            Thanks again!
