  • Looking for answers

My nam is Inger, I'm 41 years old en life in the Netherlands.

As a child I often had problems with my bladder. Many times in the hospital en often on antibiotics.

As an adult I still have bladder problems, bud it was manageble.

I recently had 2 surgery's. The last one was in februari. I had an hysterectomy. Aften testing the uterus I had a disease in my uterus wich I did not know. I had Adenomyose. It took me 4 years before I got confirmation that I there was something wrong with my uterus. Frustrating!

Two years ago I had problems with my Thyroid. My one body attacked my Thyroid. And since I was a child I have severe Hay fever.

The last period I have more bladder problems then before. More stomach pain en back pain. It comes in flares. Some days I can endure the pain, but other days not. I'ts making me tired.

I went to an urologist and he looked in the bladder (cysto). He told me I had Urethrotrigonitis and Leukoplacia. He sent me home with antibiotics for 3 monts. I'm taking them a week now and it's not helping. He also told me that the couldn't find a bacteria in my urine. So why the antibiotics?

I have an appointment with another urologist for a second opinion, because I don't have a good feeling. And because my one urologist won't give me answers. I have to come back in 3 months and he said that if the antibiotics didn't work he wants te remove the Leukoplacia. That means another surgery wich I'm not looking forward to. I had my share of health problems.

I'm looking voor answers wich I hope to get here.

    Hello Inger,

Welcome to the ICN. I suggest you try reading through the Patient section of the ICN, you can find a link to it in my signature. There you will find a lot of information about IC that will help you better understand what IC is. I did a search of leukoplacia but I am not sure I what that is? Have they mentioned you might have IC?

You have had some problems to deal with, I am sorry for that. I hope you find some answers and start feeling better soon.

I hope the second urologist is able to help you find out what's wrong. It's not unusual for an interstitial cystitis patient to first be diagnosed with trigonitis --- I was.

      Sending warm thoughts,
      Donna

        Hi Sandra and Donna,

Thank you for your reply. It's helpfull.

I will read both threads, Sandra and Donna.

My family doctor thinks that I have IC. For 3 times my urine is clean and I have pain.

        Again Thank you both!

There has been a lot going on the last few weeks. Lot's of pain, but my urologist isn't doing anyting.

My urine is checked for UTI's, no bacteria's. There where leuko's in my urine. I have pain but still my urologist doesn't give me anything for the pain. I talked to my family doctor and he is going to call my urologist. My family doctor has prescribed me Tramadol for the pain. It helps, but it's making really tired.

I'm going to make an appointment with an IC specialist.

The worst thing is that I have the feeling that my urologist isn't taking me serious.
