  • Looking for advice and a note about my success with Atarax

Hi all, I wanted to know if anyone has advice here on something I have not solved yet. Before I got ic, I constantly had bv and yeast infections and would constantly get swollen and red after sex. This was chronic until I got my ic. Now I am taking femdophilus and knock on wood no more bv but my yeast seems chronic. Every time I sleep with my husband I get a yeast infection. Very predictable. Very much a huge irritant. I have to keep taking diflucan. I get swollen after sex, my muscles tense before and during sex and then I get an infection right after. What the heck? My urologist said this was a gynecological problem. I have been to the gyn over and over. Any similar experiences? I was reading about physical therapy for pain. Maybe this could help? So my questions are: 1. Are there any Meds for the swollen burning pain that have worked for you? I feel like my vagina is always inflamed. But I thought our bladders were important?? Very confused. 2. Has physical therapy helped anyone with these similar symptoms?
On a positive note Atarax has helped me so much with pain. 25 MHD. 1 x per night. Yes, it makes me sleepy but the drowsiness has now gone that I initially felt during the day. FYI. My elavil (when I take it on a limited basis in extreme pain) I cut in half from 5 mgs to12.5 mgs. It works at that dose for me. Thanks in advance for any advice. I am so grateful to you all as I have learned so much that has enabled me to feel better from this site.

Try doing some research on vulvar vestabulitis and vulvodynia, one of those might be what you are experiencing with the burning and swelling. As for the yeast infections, sometimes that happens. It coulb be that your natural balance is thrown off after sex. I used to get BV all the time after sex, we finally started using condoms and solved the problem.

I hope you are able to find some relief too.
