  • Have had ic for a year....just now introducing

I've had IC for almost a year now. It's been an off and on journey. I never realized how debilitating this disease is. Recently I have been having a lot of referred pain in my right side from my back into my pelvic area. I am at a loss but the one thing I can think of is it is due to ic. I wish I could just feel better instead of spending my time laying down in bed cause it hurts to move. The stress of it alone is hard to handle. The pain just needs to go away so I can enjoy life and my kids.

You need to see your Uro, and get on a treatment plan that works for you.
Do you have the list of IC foods? what has worked for you in the past?
I hope you feel better soon, and anytime you need to ask questions or vent you have come to the right place.

I have the diet and am also on Elmiron and Atarax. I just recently started taking them again after months without it. I also have had physical therapy for the pelvic floor disfunction that I also have but I can't afford to go anymore. Basically that is what is stopping me from going, the cost. I know they can help more than I can help.myself it juat coats so much. Other than the diet, are there any home remedies that anyone has found that helps? I know I feel a little better with hot baths as well as pain killers but I don't want to rely on pain killers for the rest of my life.

I understand the cost's of seeing a Uro is expensive, you may want to try AZO you can get these pills at any store and there cheap.

Walmart or the dollar store has them, they will help with frequency and calm your bladder some.

Stay on the IC diet, drink alot of purified water and try to take it easy.

If you do not improve soon you will have to see your Uro.

DMSO was a miracle for me, others it was Rescue treatments its costly but worth every penny.

I hope and pray you feel better soon, let me know if you feel better in a few days.

But, if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

My home remedies were epsom salts baths, moist heat, ice packs, using prelief, Quercitin and Hyaluronic acid supplements, baking soda and water and tums for sudden flares, pelvic floor stretches I did at home, Advil (I know some people with Ic can't tolerate Ibuprofen but I can), camomile tea and IC diet. I've been pain free with normal frequency for quite a while now.
I had previously been on benadryl and surmontyl for a period of time but currently don't need either.

I do pretty much the same as earth lady when I flare. Heat is my best friend lol. I have been on elmiron 4 times a day for awhile now and its kicking in now I think ... Don't let yourself suffer There are tons of different things that can make a huge difference, you just have to find what works. Hope you feel better fast!

            28 yrs old,

I have little to no problems now with my bladder, unless I am very stressed out, I forget to take Elmiron for a few days, or I eat or drink something that I know is a trigger...(i.e) like eating a tomato or drinking tea.... Took a long time to get here, but it IS possible to feel good again I just want people who are new to know that IT CAN get better, and for every one person who is suffering, there are hundreds of others who feel GREAT because they have control of thier IC.

What Works: Tylenol 3's, Pyridium, Elmiron (Going on 4 years now!) HOT showers!!!

Medications/ Vitamins: Elmiron-100mg 4x's daily Tylenol 3's/Advil (flaring) Vitamin D, WILD salmon oil 4x gels in the morning, Women's ONE a DAY multivitamin (the gummy kind doesn't make me flare) and PROBIOTICS!
