I keep a bottle of water with me at all times, I sip on it all day long, refill when needed.

This works better for me than drinking lots of fluids at once, I too if I drink lots at once then have a hard time going.

    Thank you both,

I was just reading the diet last night. I drink sports drinks because I am very skinny and water goes right through me. My doctor suggested taking in more electrolytes but I am following the strick diet today to see if it gets better. Do you know if coconut water is ok?

I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult time. One thing I noted is that you drank a sports drink --- many of those have ingredients that are bladder irritants. Are you following an IC diet? If not, I suggest you begin today. You'll find the link to the latest food list in my signature below.

I hope you find some effective treatment options soon.

    Warm hugs,
    Donna

    new IC girl :)

    Hi,

My story begins after leaving my husband after 4 months of marraige because of his substance abuse. I made the risky move to San Diego after leaving him to start over at 26. Since October 2010, I've lived in SD and that's when I start getting 'flare ups' but at the time it was thought to be a UTI that wouldn't go away after series of antibiotics. I actually lost my first job here because I was in the ER and on vicodin to control the pain which at the time they thought was kidney stones or infection. Finally, in January, my Doctor realized that this was not a UTI, kidney infection or stones. I had a cystoscopy in January and it looked normal with the exception that my bladder wall was thin. I didnt have ulcers or bleeding like some ICers. I wasnt quite sure what to make of that but all I know is, when I get a flare up, I cry. It's like having a UTI x10. The urgency, pressure, and throbbing at my vulva is enough to curl up and cry. I've had flare ups, maybe a few times a month until recently. Now my flare ups are more frequent. My new doctor seems to think endo is also to blame so I am going to be getting testing for that soon. Today for instance, I drank a glass of water at peed 7 times. When I got home, I was thirsty so I had a full 20oz bottle of water and a sports drink + coconut water. My belly is bloated and when I pee, it's just drops This is so frustrating. A year ago, I was active, fit, happy, healthy, and optimistic. Since I've moved to SD to "start over" Ive been trying to find ways to feel good and with all my efforts I never seem to get there. I take tylenol 3 for flare ups, that backs me up and makes me worse, it also makes me tired. My anxiety levels have soared. I did Bikram Yoga 2x in one week and had a terrible flare with flu like symptoms. I feel like every step forward comes along with two steps backwards. It's very hard since I am a problem solver and this is a problem I cant seem to solve. My job is also on the line once again which is added stress because if I lose my job, well I have no place to live Oh dear me..
Working...
