I would like to add that you should look at the IC diet and even though you don't want to try medications, the Interstim is considered a last resort treatment when all other treatments have been tried and failed.

Interstim is an invasive treatment. It has helped people but it has also caused some people a lot more trouble. You really need to research this.

Please read through the forum and website. There is a lot of very good information here.

I would urge you to reconsider trying medications. For many, they are a lifesaver! Interstim is a big procedure, the decision to get it should not be taken lightly. Imagine all the damage that can be done by having shocking wires in your back - if they move, aren't working correctly, etc. you could be in a much worse position than you are now. I am going for an Interstim trial myself, but it's taken me 7 years to get to this point, and for many of these years the meds were helping me.

You also don't mention the diet, stress relief, and other non-medication therapies that may help. I ask that you give it some more thought, and spend time on here researching and asking questions.

    Best of luck to you!

I'd just like to say to the IC Network family. I know you'll find a wealth of information and support here.

    Warm hugs,
    Donna

Discovered I had IC during a TVT procedure

Hey all I am Mindy. I am 31 y/o and a mama to two boys. On July 14 I had a tvt sling done. During the procedure the Dr. saw scarring and peticia in my bladder. After the surgery I had two bouts of bleeding and was almost scoped again. thankfully the bleeding cleared and I was able to go home. I have since talked to my uro/gyn and he told me aboutr IC. Everything makes so much sense now. I have always since I can remember had frequency and urgancy issues and now I am can actually feel the spasm. I get most uncomfortable just around my period. There are some days I may go 3 time and others I go 16-20. I am going to be trying pelvic PT in hopes to wait out the next surgery for 5-8 yrs. i don't think I'll try meds I am probably going to go straight to the stim procedure....Any advice and support would rock All i keep hearing is how young I am to deal with this....oh and they also discovered my urethra is half the lenghth of average people...fun...
Working...
