Diagnosised with Celiac this August after 30 years of begging doctors to test me. Finally after the gene DNA testing I have the HLA-DQ2 celiac genetic gene. I also started having bladder/vaginal pain in Jan. 2009 shortly after I started into menopause. I was diagnosed with trigonitis, but have all the symptoms of IC. I have never had the testing because the gyno just wanted to assume I had IC and give me meds. That is a problem, I am allergic and react to many drugs. I dreaded the thought of a horrid reaction to the meds. Had a colonoscopy in March of 2009 which turned out to be botched and caused extreme intestinal pain. March of 2010 had a hysterectomy which turned out to be precancerous. I learned how to avoid foods that flared the celiac and IC. I also have to be on a diet of a restriction of all double chained sugars, all starches, grains, and carb like corn, potatoes, and peas. I follow the "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" book. Recently a naturopath found out I had an old brain injury. I have been seeing a neuro Dr to work on this issue. I think it has flared my bladder/vaginal pain. I just had my well woman check up. I had a pelvic and my lining of my vagina started to bleed. The doctor thought that was curious. I think it has to do with the IC. I had to start to taking pyridium and also baking soda as well to tolerate the pain. I have not had to be on any medications, but feel I am going to have to look for a urogynocologist that can address these issues. Does anyone else have celiac and IC too? If anyone knows of a urogynocologist in the Ks area that is good I would love the info. Orrr.... did you find someone else who could help these type of issues? I hate having all this wrong with me at 54 years old. I am too young to let this thing beat me.
