  • Looking for Ideas

Hey everyone, I am looking for ideas from parent of children with IC about a new childrens corner for the ICN. Jill and I spoke on the phone and thought it would be a great idea. I am also working on a childrens book. Any ideas for that would be great too. Anything in particular you would like to see in the book? I am shooting for a 1st to 4th grade level, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Kelli, I really wish my brain was working right now. That's such a great idea! That's what I was looking for when I first came here. But, right now, I can't think of anything.
All I can say is that I wanted to find a way to help her understand the change in her diet. It was very, very hard for her the first months. She thought I was just being mean!
Then came helping her to understand that she is just like any other kid. Just because she has IC doesn't make her different. I helped her understand that she is special - and smart for knowing what she can and can't eat.
I taught her all I could about what is "wrong" with her bladder.
I taught her how to help herself with the pain when she gets flares.
I helped her to know that she is not alone. And, that there are others that have the same problem. Since her uro is almost positive I also have IC, I am better able to understand her pain - emotional and physical.
I guess I was kind of trying to find something to help her understand the changes in her diet and that she is not "broken". And, how to help herself (which has made her feel more in control of her IC and has really helped).
That's all I can think of right now.
