I just wanted to let you know that some time ago I was going through hell trying to figure out if my daughter (then 6 1/2 years old, now 8) had my dreaded disease, in fact I called Jill panicked and completely flared myself after a long remission!!! I suggested a board for children with IC and here it is...one day my daughter started peeing all the time and would say she still had to go everytime!!!!! These were my exact symptoms....I thought I was going to die. I can't even explain what I was going through as I'm sure people here understand...anyway over time she had a cysto/hydro and the doc said she had a slightly small bladder capacity and her bladder wall looked "strange" but he said it was not IC...anyway...after recovering from the hydro (about 4ish days) her symptoms subsided almost completely...(I'm sure from the hydro) Another doc after him said that she had extrodinary urinary frequency...comman in this age group...ie nerves, growing, constipation... He was quite interesting actually...so We started kicking up the fiber and water...and started relaxing together...breathing...closing our eyes and talking about happy caliming things!!! It is great therapy for both of us . I think she does have IC...but I also know that we have it under complete control right now... We will deal with it again when and if it rears its ugly head...right now I am trying to keep current in IC research and treatment options for when and IF that day should come again...for now we RELAX AND BREATH....(and drink lots of water hee hee)Anyway, sorry about the long winded post..my first one as bonogirl (big U2 fan) Relax and breath..............

Sorry to hear about your little girl.I hope things stay well for her! This might sound strange but at least she has you to help her through this. You can truly understand what she is going thru. I think that is a big plus. I wish nobody had to deal with this!! When you were a little girl do you recall having problems with your bladder? I have a vague memory when I was little that one time I burned down there. But growing up I didnt have anyproblems till I was 24. I asked my mom if she remembered she couldnt, but my Aunt says she remembers something. I dont know. Maybe your daughter will grow out of it.Stranger things have happened. At least you know what IC is,Im sure there are parents out there going to Drs. and getting no answeres.Maybe it will help your daughter that she has a diagnosis early, to prevent the disease from getting worst. Thats if it ever will. This IC is so unpredictictable. You know I hear stories like your and it really makes you think if there is a heriditary factor. Well I think you little girl is lucky to have you for a Mommy, God Bless both of you! Oh by the way when I was growing up our dogs name was Bono,he passed a couple of yrs ago. Me and my sister were big U2 fans too. Ever see them in concert? I saw them I think back in 1985, had third row seats it was awesome. Bono pulled a girl up stage sat her down beside him and sang to her. I was so jealous! Well I wish the both of you the Best!!!- Healing Hugs to you and you little Girl!-JOJO

      Hi JoJo,
I didn't notice anything strange about my bladder until I was about 19 or 20...it started out mild....then went full blown by 22....it went that way for about 10 years!!! I did not go into a sort of remission until I turned 32 and at that same time I finally got a diagnosis. (by that time I already diagnosed myself) Now I am 36 and am doing pretty well...although I just saw U2 in May and I had to "hold it" the last half of the show!!!! (there was no way I was leaving to use the potty!!!) You are so lucky to have seen them back in the 80's!!!!!! I am soooo jealous!!!!! Hmmm 85 I was out of high school 2 years and I NEVER HEARD OF U2!!! Do you believe that!! I think I must have lived under a rock. I didn't know who they were until 88...(I heard of them, but didn't know the music) I have been a huge fan ever since...I have been seeing them since zoo tv(Detroit and Chicago)...Pop Mart...and the most recent....ELEVATION (my all time favorite out of what I've seen) I met Bono and the Edge after Zoo TV in Detroit!!!! That was amazing...I have their autographs. Anyway...this isn't a U2 board...so I guess I should contain myself....Rock on U2 sister...Roll your IC into the "Unforgetable Fire" Bonogirl

          kimmi,
I will definately keep you and your daughter in my prayers. What are your daughters symptoms? It is so hard what you are going through right now with the waiting and wondering. How are your daughters spirits holding up...is she happy or is she having a hard time with all of this? I remember talking with Jill when I was at the beginning of this with my daughter and something she said and something she asked really helped me a lot so I will pass it on to you....first she asked me how she was handeling it....and then she told me to remember that she doesn't have the daily stresses of our adult life which often adds to our own stresses and makes handeling our IC a lot harder than it may be for her (my daughter). Not exact words but the gist of it ya know. Anyway, I don't know what her exact circumstances are (symptoms) but if it doesn't seem to phase her much try to help her without her knowing thats what your doing because you know how if our kids know we are worried than so do they and then they may clam up and not tell us when something is bothering them. Like I said I don't know her symptoms...if she is in pain than you have a totally situation to deal with than I do. I pray that she is not in pain. Let me know of her symptoms (curious) and keep me posted on her test results. LISA

            HI LISA,
MY DAUGHTER WETS HER PANTS ALL THE TIME AND SHE IS IN PAIN ALOT.
SHE IS UNDER ALOT MORE STRESS THAN A NORMAL 7 YEAR OLD BECAUSE OF THE STUFF WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH WITH HER DAD.SHE JUST GOT BACK FROM HER SIX WEEK VISITE AND SHE IS VERY VERY STRESSED OUT ALOT HAPPENED AND IT WILL TAKE AWHILE FOR HER TO GET BACK TO NORMAL.I HAVE HER IN COUNCLING BUT IT'S HARD FOR HER.
SHE ALSO GETS VERY UPSET WHEN SHE WETS HER PANTS BECAUSE THE OTHER CHILDREN AT SCHOOL MAKE FUN OF HER.ALL OF HER TEACHERS ARE AWEAR THAT SHE HAS ABLADDER PROBLEM AND THEY ARE REALLY GREAT TO HER,SO I AM THANKFUL FOR THAT.
WELL I BETTER GO AND I WILL KEEP YOU UP TO DATE ON HER TOO.
            THANK YOU VERY MUCH,
            KIM
