  • college & IC

I was just diagnosed with IC and until my Elmiron hopefully I works, I made my college load easier. I took 3 classes that last 50 minutes and two classes over the internet so in case I need to use the bathroom its easier and if I don't feel well at a certain time I can work on my studies later.

I start college in two weeks. I am getting nervous, but not too badly yet. Last year I started at the same school, but was forced to drop out due to my health, so that makes me anxious. It is going to help that I am only going to take 13 hours, and I have some disability services avaible to me. Also, I have my interstim implant that is much decreasing my urgency.

I am a junior in college, and a mom of three with a whole bunch of crap wrong with me. What I find that works is taking those internet classes. The biggest benifit of doing classes that way is that even when I feel horrible I can still make class.....when I had to drive to class-and I was not feeling good, I would just not go.............found a good way to fail classes. The year before last I took double the number of credit allowed because I did most on the computer. Because my heath is much worse now....I only take a normal case load. So crazyitalian I think you are on the right track.
Megan--dont get to stressed out cause then you will make yourself sick. See if your school offers internet classes.....if not take easy A classes for the first term (you know which ones I mean......Atantomy of a bowling ball.....hehehe classes they create for the sports guys so that they can keep thier GPA about that magical 2.0. By taking easy classes it gives you a chance to adjust slowly to the new pressures of being in college......I think it will help you keep from having the same problems this year like you did last year. Hugs to both of you, Lisa
God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging......The LORD Almighty is with us the GOD of Jacob is our fortress." Psalm 46:1-3,7

      May God bless our nation

Last year it wasn't the IC that made me drop out, it was because I ended up in the ICU. I aspirated acid from my stomach into my lungs and got very, very sick. That better not happen again. I am much more on top of my depression, anxiety, and IC. I have chosen easy classes to start with, so that will help. I am more concerned about living with a roomate in the dorms and not sleeping than my classes. My roomate is really nice, but I need to go to bed early.
