I found this great pain management program near where i go to school and now I cannot go. It is $600 for eight weeks. There is nno way I can afford that and insurance does not cover it. I am so bummed. I wsa looking forward to it and I could really use it. I haven't beeen doing well at all. I am trying hard to keep it together and keep my grades up. I am just disappointed and hurting right now.

    Grinch,
Have you checked into Medicare disablity? Along with your medical insuarance, this would make things a big easier financially. Good Luck, TX-Brenda.

What reason does your insurance company give you for not covering it? If you talk to the folks at the pain center they just might be able to help you appeal the decision.

Well, I don't have much more to add than what the ladies here had to say....but I was thinking....

What if you offered to pay a monthly installment of $50.00 over 1 year. If you offered to put into writing and claiming financial hardship or that your status as a student doesn't allow you to pay that much all up front. Even asking for a reduction in the fees can sometimes work. (I think its referred to a sliding fee scale).

I'm trying to think of any other loop hole you can use to get insurance to pay. This is obviously a necessity rather than cosmetic or elective....Gosh I feel for you, I hope you find some sort of solution. Don't give up tho!

            Hi,

I was going to suggest talking to different departments on campus. The special needs office, student awards or financial services or student associations are sometimes helpful in finding funds to cover a service, medication or treatments that are necessary for you to continu to study and be well. There are also community resources that can be helpful. I have found the march of dimes, the kidney foundation and the local member of parliament office good resources that can point me in the right direction or refer me to the right service. I`m so glad things worked out for you.
